Hi,

I am retaking GMAT on 24th Dec, 2016 and wish to apply to my choice of B-Schools around R2 deadlines(Most are between 1st and 10th Jan 2017)
Though I have started preparing my apps along with studying for gmat but I'm sure I'll be submitting my application only by December end or early January next year.

My question is whether submitting the application this close to deadline (may be 2-3 days before the final date) will impact my chances of being considered?

Would like to know your thoughts on this.

Thanks!

No this does not have an impact for most schools. Unless the schools have rolling applications, you can submit them at the end. They start to read applications after the deadline.
That said quality improves if you start sooner and are not rushed.

Good luck!

Best,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Does Columbia has rolling applications concept?

If I submit my Columbia Application on last day, does that mean I may have very less chances of getting selected irrespective of my profile?

Thanks
Abhimahna

Abhimahna.

Yes, Columbia has a rolling admissions cycle so you are better off submitting earlier than later. The spots fill up throughout the year, so if you submit too late, there may not be many spots left.

Good luck and email if you want to discuss further. I send a lot of students to Columbia every year.

Best,
Scott

Unless you're applying to Columbia I really don't think that's a driver in and of itself. They're not looking at their watch like thinking about when you submitted your application. It just needs to be on time, that said early-round schools early decision schools, such as Colombia and Duke and Tuck, you're going to have less chances for success with them because most of the seats are taken. However that has nothing to do with how early before the round 2 deadline you submit.

No, it will not influence your performance. The only thing that will affect you is your ability to deliver the applications in a quality fashion on a short time line
