Greetings,
I have recently completed a Professional Certificate Program in Financial Risk Management at NYU. I completed 5 courses and received A's, however I'm curious what sort of value in my potential MBA apps (not applying until Fall 2012). The courses are not officially applicable toward a traditional degree; they're structured as CEU's, rather than the typical semester/quarter credit system.
Additionally I've completed 5 courses through Stanford's free offerings (in computer science), however they are non-graded and mainly to supplement current job responsibilities.
I know the above is a bit general, but would someone be able to comment on the value of the each. Moreover, how should each be framed in a potential application? I'm guessing the certificate is resume worthy, but the free-coursework may be less noteworthy outside of the a brief mention in "above-and-beyond" type essays.

Any graded coursework complements your undergraduate education and can help the admissions committee better judge your academic ability than a degree that you completed several years ago can. They aren't necessarily worth mentioning in an essay unless they are linked with your goals, but you can and should list them in the education section of the application form.
