The body of anyone infected by virus X will, after a week, produce antibodies to fight the virus; the antibodies will increase in number for the next year or so. There is now a test that reliably indicates how many antibodies are present in a person's body. If positive, this test can be used during the first year of infection to estimate to within a month how long that person has had the virus.
Which one of the following conclusions is best supported by the statements above?

(A) Antibodies increase in number only until they have defeated the virus.
(B) Without the test for antibodies, there is no way of establishing whether a person has virus X.
(C) Antibodies are produced only for viral infections that cannot be fought by any other body defenses.

Still wonder why E is correct answer. But yeah looks like it is. D is out because we don't know how long antibodies can increase in number

(B) Without the test for antibodies, there is no way of establishing whether a person has virus X. There very well could be other symptoms or tests-not addressed.
(C) Antibodies are produced only for viral infections that cannot be fought by any other body defenses. Not mentioned in the statements why antibodies are produced.
(D) If a person remains infected by virus X indefinitely, there is no limit to the number of antibodies that can be present in the person's body. We are told nothing about how many antibodies can be present.
(E) Anyone infected by virus X will for a time fail to exhibit infection if tested by the antibody test. We ARE told that for the first week, the body produces no antibodies. Therefore the test that reads the amount of antibodies will fail to exhibit infection if the person is tested in that window. Correct answer.

WHy is C incorrect?
I feel it also has good chances

Well, the statements don't really mention anything contained in Option C. All we know is that this particular virus will cause the body to produce antibodies in a week, which will increase for the next year or so. Nothing is mentioned about the virus being fought by other body defenses, so we can't say that conclusion is supported by the statements.

"C" is not the conclusion that can be derived from the given statements. In conclusion questions remember the conclusion has to be derived from the premise. "C" states an additional fact . By stating the given facts that is not the claim of the author. The conclusion is the increased number of antibodies provide immunity;hence the infection will not be exhibited in the infected which is what is stated in "E".
