So i was between C and D here and ended up choosing D. Can somebody explain why C is the correct choice. Thanks!

Hi,

The correct idiomatic expression is "The hypothesis that".. so we can eliminates A, B and E.

Indeed D really tempts us to select it, but D states that this hypothesis is the ONLY hypothesis that is gaining interest among astrophysicists. This changes the meaning of the sentence, hence this is wrong..

So C is correct answer.

Hi Carcass,
Initially i went for the meaning approach(Still using it), Since understanding the meaning is important so that it will easy to eliminate wrong choices, and when i was doing SC questions, i was able to eliminate few wrong answers with the meaning and logic.

Then comes the rules when you are struck between 2 or 3 answers choices, i'm not sure whether it is correct, but thats how i do :)

Normally, the pattern in A,B,C will not stand together in one question; each will appear in different questions. Since these patterns are important, test takers must learn them.
