The science of color management developed in response to a very specific need: the successful development of high-volume assembly lines required strict quality control across a number of parameters, including color. Engineers developed measurement devices, such as colorimeters and spectrophotometers, to create profiles of various colors. A profile from a particular machine could then be referenced to a standard color space, or set of definitions for establishing particular colors. In this way, the profile data for a specific color was “standardized” and could be transferred among different color creation and calibration machines, allowing, for example, six automobile assembly lines located in two different states to produce thousands of identically-hued silver sedans over a period of months.

In the 1990's, color management companies began adapting their color measurement expertise to the healthcare field. One company, for example, created a cholesterol test that negated the typical requirements for patients to fast before the test and have blood drawn, making the test much cheaper and easier to administer. Drops of two different liquids, digitonin and an enzyme substrate, are placed sequentially on the patient’s palm. First, the digitonin binds to cholesterol present in the skin; then, the enzyme substrate causes a color-change reaction that is dependent upon the patient’s cholesterol level. The doctor or technician can quantify the precise level by measuring the color change with a spectrophotometer. Such novel applications promise to have as far-reaching an impact on the healthcare industry as the first color measurement products had on early assembly-line businesses nearly a century ago.

Q2. I think the answer is B

Such novel applications promise to have as far-reaching an impact on the healthcare industry as the first color measurement products had on early assembly-line businesses nearly a century ago.

can you explain why it is E ?

B is close, but even though it has far-reaching impact on the healthcare industry it does not 100% guarantee that color management will continue to develop in the healthcare industry.
If you consider E, it is mentioned in the passage - ''In this way, the profile data for a specific color was “standardized” and could be transferred among different color creation and calibration machines, allowing, for example, six automobile assembly lines located in two different states to produce thousands of identically-hued silver sedans over a period of months. '' - means it was difficult earlier.

Hi MithilaGauri
Refer to the sentence in the 1st paragraph of the passage - ''A profile from a particular machine could then be referenced to a standard color space, or set of definitions for establishing particular colors.'' - which implies that standard color space is a set of definitions to which a profile could be referenced to. A color profile is not a collection of definitions.
So ans C.

Took 6.5 mins to complete.

My logic for selecting answer is as follows:

The passage starts with explaining color mangement was developed in the first place to meet quality control standards in automobile industry. The succeeding para talks about the application of color managment tech in health care industry.

Only option-A captures the essence correctly, hence A

Answer lies in first para, color management was developed to a specific need of meeting quality control standards. Also the para states that 'standardization' has helped produce identical color in 2 different states

Option-C is not supported anywhere in the passage. All the options have a reference in the passage.

In Question 1

Points to eliminate D

1- there is nothing about new technology; However, the use of technology is new
2-there is nothing technical discussed for technology in para 1.
3-Para 1 discussed why color management is useful. (nothing technical about technology).

Here we can get to answer A by eliminating the other answer choices -

A) First para describes how science of color management has helped Automobile Industry and Healthcare industries. Hence Correct
B) We are not debating anything here, just describing.Hence Incorrect
C) No contrasting also going on here, just describing.Hence Incorrect
D) The para never speaks about technical aspects of the technology. Only they are describing the use of the technology in the real world.Hence Incorrect
E) Again, no comparison just describing.Hence Incorrect

Here, as soon as we read the first para, we come to know the times before the color technology were difficult -

Using Elimination method on this -
A) Refer to - Engineers developed measurement devices, such as colorimeters and spectrophotometers, to create profiles of various colors.. Hence Incorrect
B) Yes the technology has been applied to two industries as of now we know from the passage, namely - Automobile and Healthcare. Hence Incorrect
C) Refer to - create profiles of various colors. From this we know, a single color profile is one color and not a collection of definitions. Hence Correct
D) 2nd Para clearly states that First, the digitonin binds to cholesterol present in the skin; then, the enzyme substrate causes a color-change reaction that is dependent upon the patient’s cholesterol level.. Hence Incorrect
E) The whole first para is about this. Hence Incorrect
