Q2. I think the answer is B

Such novel applications promise to have as far-reaching an impact on the healthcare industry as the first color measurement products had on early assembly-line businesses nearly a century ago.

can you explain why it is E ?

Thanks in advance !!!

Hi
B is close, but even though it has far-reaching impact on the healthcare industry it does not 100% guarantee that color management will continue to develop in the healthcare industry.
If you consider E, it is mentioned in the passage - ''In this way, the profile data for a specific color was “standardized” and could be transferred among different color creation and calibration machines, allowing, for example, six automobile assembly lines located in two different states to produce thousands of identically-hued silver sedans over a period of months. '' - means it was difficult earlier.

Took 6.5 mins to complete.

My logic for selecting answer is as follows:

souvonik2k
1) The passage is primarily concerned with which of the following?

A) Detailing the analogous application of a technology in two different industries.
B) Debating the historical significance of a particular type of technology.
C) Contrasting two different types of technologies.
D) Explaining the technical aspects of a new technology.
E) Comparing the historical development and success of two different industries.

The passage starts with explaining color mangement was developed in the first place to meet quality control standards in automobile industry. The succeeding para talks about the application of color managment tech in health care industry.

Only option-A captures the essence correctly, hence A

souvonik2k
2) Which of the following can be inferred from the passage?
A) A colorimeter can also be used in the color-based cholesterol test.
B) Color management companies will continue to develop healthcare applications.
C) Color management science would not have been developed had the automotive industry not needed the technology.
D) Color management products are applicable to industries beyond automotive and healthcare.
E) Before color management technology was developed, it was difficult to produce a large volume of cars with precisely equal colors.

Answer lies in first para, color management was developed to a specific need of meeting quality control standards. Also the para states that 'standardization' has helped produce identical color in 2 different states

souvonik2k
3) According to the passage, all of the following are accurate EXCEPT
A) a spectrophotometer can measure the change in color of a particular substance or surface
B) color management technologies have been successfully applied to multiple industries
C) a color profile is a collection of definitions used to produce colors
D) it is necessary to apply the digitonin before the enzyme substrate in order for the cholesterol test to work properly
E) color profiles allow companies to apply standardized metrics across an entire product line

Option-C is not supported anywhere in the passage. All the options have a reference in the passage.

In Question 1

Points to eliminate D

1- there is nothing about new technology; However, the use of technology is new
2-there is nothing technical discussed for technology in para 1.
3-Para 1 discussed why color management is useful. (nothing technical about technology).

TIA
Although the science of color management developed in response to the automotive industry's need, it is not impossible that it could have developed (or would develop) in response to a need of some other industry (or industries). Option C says that this possibility of another industry (industries) needing color management technology didn't (or doesn't) exist. Incorrect derivation.

Regarding Question 3 - The paragraph clearly states "A profile from a particular machine could then be referenced to a standard color space, or set of definitions for establishing particular colors"which means it is a set of definitions which can be used to produce a specific color

'Produce', is creating problem here. In passage it is " A profile from a particular machine could then be referenced to a standard color space, or set of definitions for establishing particular colors."

sarthak8867 : it would be kind of you if you can share your strategy that you used to solve the questions so fast, rather than specifying how much time you took.

I have read your explanation but it doesn't really hold water in my opinion. I think "B" was a more credible answer since nowhere in the paragraph does it mention "multiple industries". It only mentions two and not multiple.

I went with C too, but think again, I think (set definition) is correct, but (to produce color) is wrong. Means the profile is NOT to produce more NEW colors, but rather give you a reference/definition of a color.
Not very sure, just my opinion.
