Official Explanation

False: There were 6 furniture items that experienced a decrease in total inventory. Of these, 3 (exactly 50 percent) are Red mahogany. However, all 19 furniture items experienced a decrease in total items sold. Only 6 of these (32 percent) are Red mahogany, so the statement is false.

True: The furniture type experiencing the greatest percentage increase in total inventory from 2009 to 2010 is the Oak Natural Desk, at 9.7 percent. This same item also experienced the greatest percentage decrease in the total number of items sold (–8.1 percent).

False: The furniture type with the highest rank based on total inventory is the Oak Natural Chair. The furniture type with the highest rank based on total items sold is the Maple Natural Chair.

True: The total inventory of Cherry Red mahogany Tables in 2010 was 200,407. This furniture type experienced a 3.1 percent decrease in total inventory, or a drop of about 6,000 items. Its inventory in 2009 was therefore approximately 206,400.

Okay. I understand the difference. I guess I'm having an issue with the interpretation of questions

Sajjad1994 it seems like the two statements are the same.
-----------
Also, I disagree with the OE. "Exactly 50 percent of the furniture items that experienced a decrease in both total inventory and total items sold are Red mahogany." is an intersection of three criteria:
- negative % change in inventory
- negative % change in number sold
- colour = Red mahogany

Items that experienced a decrease in both (AT THE SAME TIME/INTERSECTION) are 6: Desk, Nightstand, Armoire, Table,Cabinet, and Chest.

3 of them (Nightstand, Armoire, and Table) are "Red mahogany". So the statement is true: 3 of 6 is 50%.

Am I missing something?

It's wrong it says both a decrease in inventory and a decrease in sales. There are only 6 items that fall into this category. Your explanation would be right if the question would have said that the total of number articles that witnessed a decrease in inventory and sales. Secondly, for question the greatest change in inventory is Oak natural desk (9.7%) but it didnt experience the greatest decrease, refer to the table the decrease for Oak natural desk is -7 not 8.1. Poor quality question and explanation

I disagree with the solution above, according to me the first statement is true. Because out of 19 only 6 type of furniture has experienced a decrease in inventory and sales, and from which 3 are Red mahogany. Hence this statement is true.
In the second statement, The furniture type experiencing the greatest percentage increase in total inventory from 2009 to 2010 does not experienced the greatest percentage decrease in the total number of items sold. Hence it is False.
Please review, If i have made any errors in my reasoning please provide the detailed explaination.

Yes, Both answers are wrong. It should be True and False for (1) & (2) respectively.
