Re: The task force is reviewing the company’s hiring practices for the det [#permalink]
The task force is reviewing the company’s hiring practices for the determination of whether they are meeting the requirements set by the Office of Equal Opportunity.

I go with E, applying V-A-N principle: VERB is better than ADJECTIVE, ADJECTIVE is better than NOUN. So, what we have here:
for the determination VS for the determining VS determining VS to determine.

Option E is concise, the meaning is clear (task force is doing smth with the purpose; to show the purpose TO verb is used) and the style looks good!

The answer is E for the use of the infinitive to express the intention of the task force. All other choices are wrong for using complex gerunds, nouns, improper idioms such as whether or not.

I feel privileged to have similar thought process and then explanation as daagh’s in the this question at least.

As a “task force” is usually established to complete a task, we need action/intention, which is clearly defined using “to”. Only E has this clarity

Hi saurabhmundhra12,

The they refers to "the company’s hiring practices". The non-underlined portion of the sentence uses a singular verb (is reviewing) for "the task force", so ambiguity is not really a problem here.
