In C, ‘which served’ modifies the wrong part of the sentence. It implies that the victory being against thousand to one odds was what served to inspire.
‘victory of the gold medal’, in D is an improperly constructed phrase.
Similarly, E’s ‘won the gold medal victory’ is also improper.
In A, ‘against which’ is used incorrectly. A also has the same modifier error as C.
Thus, B is the correct answer.
