PuneetA26 - Did you score higher in your mocks? And any particular reasons for the lower Verbal score (e.g. test day anxiety)?

If you believe you can improve the score, you should consider a retake, given that time is on your side. You always want to put your best foot forward, whether it's the GMAT, profile, or application.

Hi all,

I have a 675 in GMAT FE (~730 in GMAT OG) currently, however my Verbal score is really low, V79 (51 percentile). My concern is that I have heard that there are "hidden" sectional cut-offs for ISB. Your advise on whether this is true & I should re-attempt would be really helpful. Also, it would be really helpful to know if I should re-attempt to increase my overall score in general?

(A glance of my profile: 10th- 95%, 12th-93%, Majors in Civil Engineering from BITS Pilani with a Minors in Finance; 3 yrs experience with Bain & Co. (Capability Network) in Private Equity & Organizational Restructuring teams).
I still have time before 2025 R1s- So I'll be able to prep for 15-30 days & reattempt!, so no constraints on that side as of now.

Thanks in advance!

I had 695 & 715 in the official mocks. But given the experience some of my peers have had with their GMAT, they have typically scored ~20-30 marks below. So my expected score was within the expected range (was expecting somewhere between 675-695 only), However, I did I find some really peculiar questions- some reading passages were really tricky with confusing options, & I believe they were the starting 4-5 questions so my percentile might have suffered a major drop there (However, this is just a speculation & I haven't received my detailed report yet.)
I'll try to give a retake at the earliest based on the comments I am receiving here, once my 16 day cool down period gets over, though any tips/ suggestions from your end are welcome!

Hi PuneetA26,

Were there any reasons you think might have led to the lower Verbal score on test day? Did you perform better in your practice tests?
If you feel confident about improving your score, a retake could be worthwhile.
