Hi all,

I've been reading this thread for a while now but have never posted. Good luck to everyone on the WL! Happy to report that I got an interview invitation today. I applied R2 and was waitlisted w/o interview on 3/30. Now need to start prepping for the interview!

I have been watching this list for a while. I'm going to call it the hopeless list... Anyways I am thinking of withdrawing my application from the waitlist this upcoming week if I don't see any action. I decided I'm heading else where and it makes sense to start the financial aid process.

sent a letter immediately. got another recommendation sent in. visited the school. updated them about my promotion.

so yes, virtually stalked them, but tried to be graceful about it.

This process is agony... But sooo worth it if we get in!

So far I sent an email regarding my continued interest in Stern and accepting the place on the WL. After meeting with a couple of students and visitng the school I updated them them on my recent interactions with the Stern community and also about the online quant course I am taking.

An alumni sent an email on my behalf.

I applied through the consortium and one of my mission recommenders is a stern alumn, do you guys think I should ask him to send a recomendation on my behalf? Even though he technically already has- for the Consortium.

Lastly, I'm contemplating the gmat- Again! I retook the gmat after applying. Do you think it would make a difference at this point considering I've already had them waiting for a 2nd gmat score?

I'm taking an online UCLA Extension Course- Math for Management. It's a work at your own pace type of course which could be great or really bad- depending on your time management skills. I signed up for this class for two reasons: material and timing.

As an Econ major, I had already taken Stats, Calc, Micro & Macro economics courses. If you haven't taken any of these courses in your undergrad I would recommend taking these first- any local university should be sufficient. If you have, the ideal course would somehow use basics that you have already mastered and teach you something new- without teaching you the things you will address in business school itself. It's hard to find a happy medium but I felt that this course in particular did a good job at using (or refresing ) the basics and applying new material in a business context.

There are many pre-mba courses available (see above links), but just because they fall under the pre-mba umbrella doesn't mean you should take it- so just make sure the class teaches you something new. UCLA has an online- instructed Math for Management that is not part of the extension courses, has great reviews and starts in June:

If It weren't for the timing I would have taken this one. The course I'm taking now started March 30, 3 days after I was waitlisted. And timing is everything when you are on the wait list.
