I had my Emory interview today. It felt fine but I don't get nervous for interviews at all (i run my mouth for a living) so maybe my self-awareness is off. I flew in from Houston and interviewed on campus so hopefully that shows enough strong interest for them to "show me tha money". The interviewer mainly ran through my resume in chronological order... talked about my experiences and my development. Then my goals and why MBA and why Emory. My problem is I may have talked too much... brevity is definitely my weakness.
I enjoyed the visit. Program has more to offer than I originally thought and the Consortium community there seems to be very strong. The girl who gave me a tour was helpful and friendly and told me that Emory was ranked 6th on her Consortium list and still got the fully scholly. Plus, I realized a few new things. I realized I can't do the small college town at this point in my life...and to not judge a school by its alumni distribution when the school is located in a great city. Seems like people that come from elsewhere, not looking to go into finance, go to Emory then decide to stay in atlanta. I can image schools like Berkeley, McCombs, etc. may have the same outcome on occasion.
Another thing was all the 1st years I met already had an internship sewed up and didn't seem like they were dying from the mba experience. One of my homeboys from McCombs only sends five word emails to me now and acts like he's too busy to wipe his butt after he gets off the toilet, and my other friend at Rice acts as if the weight of business school of crushing his skull and anxiety pills are right around the corner......So, Emory is now a place I would be happy to go to, and not "just accepting" to get away from my current setting.
