I'm assuming you are saying that the acceptance rate is 20% of R1 applicants, not 20% of interviewed R1 applicants. That would make sense to me.

I think he's saying that Yale received 20% more applications in R1 compared to last year.

I'm with GPT55 on this one. I heard a similar stat too that R1 apps were up YoY.

Ha - re-read this and now I agree. Nominating this thread for the RC section of the GMAT.

20% invited to interview makes more sense.

I've heard it thrown about that every school's applications are up. I'm skeptical. Even if R1 has more applications, it may just be from the GMAT changes, which have caused people to get their act together earlier. I'm guessing there won't be significant changes at most school when all the rounds are tallied up.

For most schools about 50-60% of interviewees are accepted. I'm guessing Yale is the same.

Your acceptance rate will be 0% or 100% this year for Yale (yes, even waitlists result in yes or no by the end). No amount of random data is going to let you know whether you will get in. Sucks but it's true.

LOL, so true. Have you decided which school you'll attend?

From what I've noticed, Yale SOM is attracting more students, so perhaps it's 20%+ is in terms of number of applications. I wonder if the new building might also contribute something to that? Whomever that posted the 20%+ should just clarify since we're all speculating!

I had a call with a current student at Yale last night that all but had me handing my deposit over! Every interaction I've had with Yale students has been immensely positive.

On the Kellogg front, I have an admit student event on Thursday and a call on Friday with a current student, so we'll see if things change...I've said this elsewhere, but Kellogg has a lot of catching up to do.

The building certainly isn't hurting! I hate to say that it's a draw for me. Does that make me superficial?

That's great to hear you're talking to the students and weighing your decision! I visited Yale (applied R2 so waiting/anxious right now), and loved the environment there, and there sure was a buzz going on about the new building.

I don't think it's that "superficial" since I think it's great that the school is investing in its infrastructure to provide you with a better studying/networking environment, and if you're going to spend that much money (and some years later to pay off), then in a way, you'll get to see the tangible results of *your* investments. But of course, the decision is more comprehensive than that, such as post-grad career direction and the location/community, etc., so I guess after considering those other factors and if all things are equal, I'd know which school (or building) it would be!! LOL.

Either way, all the best!! Where you are now is a good place to be! :)

Hello All,

I received an interview invite today, and I have a rather urgent question, as I am trying to schedule the interview now. Does it matter if I interview sooner or later, more specifically, does it hurt me if I wait to interview on the "SUPER DAY" interview on February 22nd?

I am worried that they "give out" spots as people interview and I don't want to pass up the earlier interview spots just for convenience, when it could cost me a spot or some sort of scholarship.

What do you think?

Thanks
