Hi folks,

Lots of information in this forum, and thanks much to all you folks :-).. I guess its time for me start my bit of sharing.

About me, I am,yet again, an Indian IT engineer (by qualification) - Have 8 years of work ex and am currently managing the Information Security function for a bank in the middle east. Gmat 710, got promoted twice in the bank, set up the security function, cultural secretary in a local community, active in social service and I can speak 5 languages. And yeah, strong recco from my previous boss (he was the DGM heading the department) and a colleague.

I finished the application process on 26th (that's when my second recco was submitted). Now sitting with fingers crossed. I have some specific queries, if any of you can help- it would be great :-)

1. INSEAD website says that they will confirm within 2 weeks if the application is complete - How long does it take in reality?
2. The dead line for interview decision for R2 is 19 July 2013 - When i read the blogs, most people look to have recd their pre-interview and interview decision during the last week. Is this right? or when can we expect the decision process to start for R2?
3. Same question for interview decision as well - INSEAD website talks about 6 weeks for final notification. Again is this an approx time frame or does it really take so much time?
4. It would be great if some of you can post the time frames from date of submission - to first email confirmation - pre-interview confirmation - interview scheduling - to final confirmation letter. ( i am sure this would be helpful for many)

And yeah, i shall also keep you guys posted on my proceedings :-)

Cheers and good luck to all.

Subbu

This is my experience, based on my location, and coordinator. Take it for what it is.

1. 3 days.
2. Approximately less than 1 month, more like 26 days. This is a function of where is your location, who is your coordinator, and your background. If you are Indian IT engineer, expect last minute.
3. Again, Indian IT engineer, expect last minute. Since your group is over represent
4. Again, this is base on my profile

Day 0: application submitted
Day 3: application confirm
Day 26: Pre-selected interview
Day 40: Interview information
Day 50: First interview
Day 54: Second interview (scheduled)
Day ??: not sure, will update later. admission decision.

Hi all,
Had my first interview today too. I'm f/26/marketing healthcare background.
My interviewer was a woman in her late 30s from financial sector. We didn't have industry overlaps so the questions weren't industry specific, but more general, including:
-work background / current job description
-why an mba now / what do i want to get from it
-why insead
-give an example of a time i was challenged/faced an obstacle, how did i overcome it
-discuss any experience of managing a team/what challenges faced/lessons learned
and we went over a few other normal questions.
What was great about my match up with this particular person was that I got a woman's perspective of the MBA experience, as well as the advice of someone who did the MBA and was in a relationship at the same time. If you're in a committed relationship, I'd definitely encourage you to ask your interviewer if they were in the same situation during the MBA and how it went for them. I got a lot of good insight from mine.
Overall I think it went well. It lasted just over an hour.
All the best to everyone else!

Did she convince you to dump your boyfriend? Lose the zero and get with the heroes? There are some very eligible bachelors here

Oh man, this forum is getting comical...

I don't know about you guys, but my ladyfriend is extremely worried that I'm going to be severely tempted. Actually, she's certain of that much as she knows me pretty well. She's more worried that I'll find someone even better than her and dump her. Her words, not mine.

I tell her that it's a 70/30 m/f ratio and most of the ladies are probably already spoken for. Little worry about that happening. Also no undergrads around that I'm aware of. Any of you guys getting any "hate" from your GFs? She's staying where she is as we don't see the point of uprooting her from her career for a 10 month program.

As a woman, I can advise you to try to speak to your gf by giving emotional arguments (rather than giving a lesson on probability). If my boyfriend would reassure me the way you did, I would be very worried too. :-)

That's a fair point - taken under consideration. Sometimes I can't help but look at everything in terms of math. This situation looks like a perfect opportunity for a Bayesian calculation, but I can see why some people don't like those. People with feelings. I'm a tin man myself.

Did you ever try giving her a brand new set of men's golf clubs for Christmas? How'd that go?

Approximately 2 weeks after interview, admission decision will be rolling out, but that's just my opinion.

If you look at last years January 2013 thread there was pretty much nothing until around June 24th. I think we got a month to wait in all honesty.

You might be right. They could wait until the last deadline for interview, and then 2 weeks after start rolling out decision.

Look at it this way. They are going to want to look at all the candidates together and make essentially a diversified portfolio of people. So those of us who interviewed early will need to wait until the last of the people interview. The deadline for that is June 15th. The interviewers have 2 days to file their report. So they must have a meeting sometime after the 17th.

My theory: at this meeting they will look at all of us together and think about how to allocate spots based on their requirements (my guesses: diversity, gender, experience, industry, age, etc). They will also probably look at their weighted average GMAT and GPA too. In my case, hopefully they will pay as little attention to that as possible.

I could be biased about this though. I manage a portfolio, so this is how I would go about this process.
