did people's recommenders actually write 1500 words? that's a lot... one of mine just asked me if it would look bad if they submitted with less.

I'm pretty sure both of my recommenders wrote 1500+ words for my recommendations, both for Wharton and for other schools. IMO, if a recommender is really enthusiastic about you, they will come up with the words, and it won't be rambling.

I just submitted for R2. This was my last application I had left to fill out. All of a sudden I feel so free 8-) .

In the Wharton application instructions, they are asking for transcripts for high school as well - "Beginning with the high school from which you received a diploma, please complete the Education and Transcript section for all of your academic experiences" - Can anyone please tell whether we have to include transcripts before undergrad!

I did not upload HS transcripts. If I remember, they only ask for your HS info, but not the transcripts.

Don't read too much meaning into it. There is no upload button under the high school information in the application.

Thanks for answering - I had another question - they have specifically mentioned to upload a word doc for resume - is it the same for the essay as well (or a pdf would work?)

Just received this email and online status changed to COMPLETE - ROUND 2.

Dear XXXXXXXX,

Thank you for submitting your application for Round Two.

The following will provide you with information concerning the processing of application materials, timeline for the release of interview invitations, and final decision releases.

If your online account reads “Complete - Round Two,” your application has all the required materials, has been processed by the Operations Team, and has been forwarded to the Committee for review.

If your online account reads “Received,” then the Operations Team needs to process your online application submission and any materials submitted by hard copy. After your materials have been processed (assuming they arrived before the Round Two deadline), your online account will be changed to “Complete for Round Two” and your file will be forwarded to the Committee for review. Due to the high number of candidates who submitted their application during the past few days (more than 60% of candidates applying for Round Two submitted their application within 24 hours of the deadline), it will take the Operations Team a approximately a week to complete the processing of all materials. Therefore, please allow the Operations Team until Friday, January 10th before inquiring about the completeness of your application.

The Admissions Committee will release interview invitations between Tuesday, January 28th and Tuesday, February 25th. Due to the nature and complexity associated with the admissions process there is no particular order in which invitations are released. Also on February 25th, the Committee will release all final admissions decisions to candidates that are not being invited for an interview and therefore no longer being considered for admission.

If you are invited for an interview, you will need to complete your interview by Mid-March. Interviews will be available on campus with second-year Wharton MBA Students who are full members of the Admissions Committee and off campus in various locations around the world by Admissions staff members. All interview options are equally considered within the admissions process.

Candidates who are offered an interview will receive their final admissions decision by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, March 25th.

Thank you again for applying to Wharton. We look forward to reading your application.

Sincerely,
Wharton MBA Admissions Committee

FROM Wharton Admissions Blog: A New Year and a New Round

Happy 2014!  I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday season. After a quick break spent with family and friends, Wharton starts a new year with a flurry of activity.  Our students are returning after spending winter vacation around the world, from tall-ship sailing in Tahiti to a trekking on a Leadership Venture in Antarctica. Soon, campus will be abuzz and one of my favorite seasons will begin.

In a few weeks, our First Year students will interviewing for summer internships during our week-long Focused Recruiting Period (FRP), Second Year students will be embarking upon their final semester at Wharton, and MBA Admissions & Financial Aid will be rolling up our sleeves to dig into all of the Round 2 applications received by yesterday’s deadline. Then we will be on the road again, travelling to India, Singapore, Sao Paulo, and all of our other hub cities to host Team Based Discussions. A new year has begun and I am excited to see what it brings.

For those of you who applied for Round 2, I know that you have worked diligently to get to this point, spending hours polishing your resume and crafting the perfect essays. Thank you for the time and effort that you put into this process. We were pleased to see a continued uptick in our application volume this round and are delighted by the enthusiasm shown by our applicants in expressing that Wharton is where they want to be. By the end of February, we will be in touch regarding the next stage of this process. In the interim, try to enjoy this time and relax while we get down to reading!

Regards,

Maryellen Reilly Lamb

Deputy Vice Dean, Admissions, Financial Aid, and Career Management

Same here but it only changed today - so don't freak out if yours just says "submitted"

The email said to leave it until Friday 10th before enquiring about your application. Man, they must be having a busy few days!
