Has anyone visited the campus without scheduling a class visit? Wondering whether I should just show up in the admissions office in the morning.. (Unfortunately, I can visit on a Mon/Thurs - when Wharton has its class visits)

Anyone received the following email yesterday? Just wondering if it's Wharton practice to send out updates like this every Friday...

________
Thank you for submitting your application to join the Wharton MBA Class of 2016! We are looking forward to getting to know each of you, through your personal stories and experiences, as we continue to read through your applications. Based on what we have seen at this point, you are not making this decision easy for us!

Now that the written part is behind you, we realize that the coming weeks bring a great deal of nervous anticipation around 'what's next' in the process. In no particular order, we will be releasing invitations to interview starting at the end of January and continuing through to mid-February. All invited candidates will then take part in the Team-Based Discussion, which we launched last year in partnership with the Wharton Innovation Group. Our new interview format has brought the team-based learning component of our community into the application process - which gives potential students a chance to showcase who they are, while at the same time experiencing more apects of our program, firsthand.

As we move into this next phase of the process and questions arise, please feel free to contact our office directly. We may be reached by phone at 215-898-6183 or by e-mail at [email protected].

Thank you, again, for your interest in Wharton. We look forward to being in touch with you in the near future.

Sincerely,
Wharton MBA Admissions Committee
Lauder Admissions Committee
Penn Law School Admissions Committee

Yes, I received this e-mail yesterday. Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like just a confirmation on the next steps. The line "Based on what we have seen at this point, you are not making this decision easy for us!" really makes you wonder though. Coupled with the financial aid e-mail that some other people received, seems Wharton really likes to keep us jumping.

Did any applicants from R1 receive similar emails? The line "Based on what we have seen at this point, you are not making this decision easy for us!" makes you look at that email again and again

Don't worry! I think everyone received that email. The "not making it easy for us" was meant to reflect the fact that the pool of applicants is highly competitive. Hence not easy to choose which ones to admit. But of course, this is just my humble opinion.

Again - don't worry! there is enough room for all of us! :-)

I hear you, but sit tight and try not to think about it too much.

If you read the email again it might be weeks before you hear back from the school. Best to relax and recharge your batteries before the interview process begins.

Best of luck! I am waiting to hear in Round 2 as well.

We wrote a pretty comprehensive post about Wharton's Team Based Discussion (https://www.mbaadmissionsadvisors.com/analyzing-the-applications-the-wharton-group-interview/). It should come in handy for some applicants as early as tomorrow. Good luck to everyone.
