I've been lurking here for a couple months and finally decided to make an account. I applied 1/5, interviewed 1/27 with feedback submitted that day, and was waitlisted 2/6. Does anyone around here have insight into roughly what percentage of people get in off the waitlist? Obviously odds arent great, but are we talking 25% or low single digits?

meh - this might just be a psychological trick to make myself feel better but i'm writing CBS off as a ding.. i just went through last years thread. Priority deadline was extended to 1/8 - by this time, the best anyone did was get on the waitlist. I know it's not representative and not everyone posts, but it seems as though applying earlier SIGNIFICANTLY increases your chances....

At least this makes me feel better. Columbia was a reach for me. Hopefully getting waitlisted applying close to the deadline is a good sign I will get an acceptance from one of my other schools.

Hi, is there anyone who applied 01/07 have not heard back yet? I applied on 01/07, completed the application 01/08 and still have not heard anything yet. What is going on?

I also applied on 07 Jan and one of my recommendors submitted his reco on 8 Jan so completed on 08 Jan. I haven't heard from CBS yet either. Fingers crossed! Kicking myself for not submitting it 2-3 days earlier. But since my reco was submitted on 8 Jan so I reckon submitting earlier wouldn't have made a difference.

yep.. 1/7 submitted.. last reco almost a week later - nothing to report.

Just randomly checked my account, saw I had a status update. Dinged. Not that surprised though since I threw the app together in 2 days, thought it was biggest reach for me of all schools I applied to.

Sorry to hear that, Sulmona! All the best for your other schools! What were your application submit and application complete dates and times?

My guess is that there is a correlation between quality of application and when it is submitted (i.e. earlier applications tend to be more thorough), so it may skew what seems to be solely a function of timing...
