Just recently received an invitation to interview in SF. Most of the slots were still open. As to those who are concerned about not using the Optional Essay, I did not add anything, so I wouldn't be too concerned. Not a deal breaker!

There are no slots near Chicago. The interview cities are LA, SF and on campus only.

Any idea on the on-campus open slots?

I applied R2 last year, was invited for on-campus interview and was finally waitlisted for admit. This year I had few more good points to add in the application. Not making the interview cut this year will be quite disheartening.

Man, this slot thing is getting on my nerves! Does it really mean what everyone seems to suggest here, because I am not ready to give up hopes yet. Can someone experienced shed some light on this?

Not sure why you need somebody experienced to explain the situation. The best we can hope for now is being wait-listed.

Yeah, because last year there have been interviews in more than one location, and through skype as well. May be I am just hoping against hope, but in any case we will know now in less than 24 hours.

its hard to feel to hopeful based on the blog post, almost seems like they are relieved to be done with the interview decisions and making a post about thanking people for their submissions....but the people indicating open interview slots keep my foolish hope alive

From the posts so far, it seems that the invites for SoCal only came in the very beginning, which I find very unlikely. Still holding my hopes for more SoCal invites today...

*sigh * i guess I'm in the bay area dingville.


EDIT: 17 minutes later....got email notification for status change. Yep Dinged. Hurts as I put a couple months into Sloan but I guess it isn't meant to be.
