Any other admitted students waiting for a scholarship decision today? I'm not sure if we should be expecting a phone call, email, or online update...

On the facebook page there is a student who called and they told her they would update applicants by email

Just got the financial aid e-mail. Didn't get a penny over here.

I totally understand and acknowledge that I'm probably not the type of candidate to receive need-based aid, and I hope that money goes to someone who might not have chosen Haas otherwise. But I can't lie - I'm still pretty bummed and now I will need to think long and hard if entrepreneurship is the best idea for me.

Somebody I knew from college posted on social media about getting a full ride to Haas. I'm really happy for the person but boyyy do I wish that was me...:(

Hmm that sucks. To clarify, do you mean you didn't get any scholarships? I'm guessing they still gave you the option to take out some loans, right? Or did they suggest you look into private loans?

I'm curious what their criteria for "need-based" aid is. I make a decent salary now, but my savings definitely isn't enough to cover two years of b-school. I would say that I have need, but I'm not sure what they'll say.

I felt that it indicates the adcoms have reached a decision on us.. Fervently hoping It is that they will invite for an interview and not the reverse :?

I'm with simplexity. I got an interview invite just yesterday, Friday, March 6 around 2pm PST! I did not expect the email at all as I was ready to be giving up the hope to be interviewed. But yay!!!

Change doesn’t have to be in leaps and bounds. Smaller steps toward career advancement can provide the space to prove yourself. To take your pulse. Lauren Kalette, MBA 15, started her Evening & Weekend MBA studies with the dream of moving from graphic design at Shutterfly into a marketing position—and she is moving toward that MBA ROI. 

“I started talking with the CMO and other director-level people in Marketing about my plans and the courses I was taking,” says Lauren. “That’s something I wouldn’t have done before. My Haas professors and classmates boosted my confidence in my ability to relate with colleagues on that senior level.”

“It’s exciting to be identifying and using data points that will help Shutterfly make informed decisions.”

Those conversations led to Lauren being assigned her first a marketing research project on the job. “It’s exciting,“ she says, “to be identifying and using data points that will help Shutterfly make informed decisions.”

A part-time mba course load heavy on marketing electives—Strategic Brand Management, Marketing Research, and Designing & Marketing New Products—prepared her for that project with new insights and an expanded skill set. Haas@Work gave her the opportunity to use her new skills and to be part of a consulting team on a real-world marketing project for Blackhawk Technology related to customer retention.

Lauren is also using her business strategy and leadership skills in her new role of Design Manager. “I’m definitely a hands-on manager. Classes like Negotiations and Power & Politics taught me about the importance of managing your interactions with people, understanding the trade-offs, and seeing the other person’s perspective.”

Lauren continues to expand her own perspectives, and her career prospects. Treks with the Design Innovation & Strategy and Marketing clubs took her inside companies like Frog Design and Eventbrite. She’s also exploring the field of design and innovation consulting. For now, she taking her career forward one step at a time, eager to see what is around the next corner.

My application still hasn't changed from the "ready for review/but may need more, if you're interviewed" status. So I went looking for more breadcrumbs...

Took a look at last year's thread for a R2 comparison, and people were still genuinely receiving interview requests until the deadline, with many going out the equivalent of this week.

I'm going to ask a potentially dumb question about this "under review" email that people are talking about.

I got an email on 1/8 from [email protected] which starts out saying "Thank you for submitting your application for admission to the Berkeley MBA Program at the Haas School of Business. Your file is now ready for review by the admissions committee."

Is this the same email everyone is talking about?
