Has anyone here been to Yale for the on-campus visit yet? I'm curious to know what your experience was like. I understand that the agenda includes sitting in on a class in the morning, and I assume that you are given the option to choose which class you'd like to sit in on?

Hi There! The day does indeed include a class visit, and you get to pick the class from, I think, 3 or 4, though they've likely changed the visit since I was an admissions guide two long years ago. It also includes a tour of Evans hall, a tour of the rest of Yale, lunch w/ current students, and a meet & greet with a student leader and an AdCom member at the end of the day. All-in-all, a really robust visit, and you should absolutely do it this fall if you're considering applying Round 2.

Last year the first interview mail reported on Oct 8th (Deadline was Sep. 25th). So its already time to hear something from one of us! OR may be they will use the extra week for internal purposes and still follow last year pattern of Fridays.. Interestingly some of our last-year gmatclubbers received invites on odd timings - such as Sunday night or Saturday evenings etc. So be prepared to be surprised friends! :-D

Campus visit was truly amazing. :) Evans Hall looks much more stunning in reality (than in the pictures). The Second-year guides were very helpful. :beer They took us across the SOM and the community is truly collaborative. They asked us to choose between two courses - 1) Advanced Leadership by Gen. Kolidtz and 2) Operations Strategy by Prof. Anjani Jain. Most of us opted for the first. Since Prof. Jain's class was cancelled that day, all of us were sent to Advanced Leadership class. Actually that class was full of MAM students. It was an amazing experience. The classroom is so student friendly and high-tech equipped with 3 screens and all. I liked it. Then there was a Yale university tour led by a guide, who is a Yale undergrad student. The university campus is as stunning as I expected. Think of Oxford/Cambridge like buildings.. The libraries are truly amazing..

More than all the visual attractions, I found very collaborative student body at Yale. :beer They are humble and yet very smart. New Haven is no big attraction especially when u compare it with beauty of Hanover or location of New York or Boston :gl . But I saw Amtrak services to New York from New Haven every 20 minutes. That might help for people trying to keep in touch with New York. Career Services meeting was also good. It was not prolonged. I met some very smart people who are applying this year and the admissions team was very friendly and patient in explaining our queries (though we couldn't get any secret information. Yale SOM was the second school I visited this fall (other than Kellogg- which was amazing too :P ) On a whole I liked the experience at Yale SOM and it has crossed my expectations. :thanks

All-in-all, a really robust visit, and you should absolutely do it this fall if you're considering applying Round 2.

That itinerary hasn't changed too much from what you have described -it's almost the same in fact! The difference seems to be that we had more of a Q&A session with a student leader and AdCom instead of a meet & greet. I actually just finished my visit today and would definitely recommend it to anyone else who is interested in Yale.

We did start off the day with the option to pick from a classes to sit-in on (in my case we were able to choose between 3 classes). I elected to join the Competitive Strategy class which provided a great demonstration of Yale's raw case approach. From my interactions with the first and second year students throughout the visit, I could easily tell that they were really enjoying their time at Yale. Visitors had lunch with current students -and if someone from Yale Admissions is reading this... the food was spot on, please continue to order from the same catering company!

Echoing CentralBanker's comments... Evans Hall was a great sight to see and so was the rest of the Yale campus. Lots and lots of great history and architecture. The current students that I interacted with were super friendly, sharp, and well-spoken. Overall, this visit only further reinforced my perspective that the SOM community is one that I'd like to be a part of!!!

Long the lurker, first time poster. In for round 1! I wish Yale had an HBS-like policy and sent out invites on two specific days. The waiting is debiliitating now.

I also visited the campus and attended Marketing class. There were 3 class options, I think all were electives. I chose Marketing. The professor, I think he is originally from Asia, was very interesting guy and so was his lecture. The 2nd year students whom I talked were very friendly and cooperative.

Yale SOM Interview Invitation email received! So excited! Hope more folks get good news, but in case you don't hear anything today, be aware that Yale reviews applications in a random order. Directly pulled from the Yale Admissions website: "The timing of your interview invitation has no bearing on the outcome of your application."
