Has anyone noticed a problem with the application when you preview your application at the end? When I view it in pdf, my "What has motivated your decision to pursue an MBA at this point in time" essay does not show up, but it is in the application when I click on that particular portion. I called admissions and I'm waiting for them to get back to me, just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue.

Hi guys.. I am wondering did you guys tried to answer why Yale in this question. No where they asked this questions.

I did include Why Yale.

I feel that MBA is not just about the classes you are going to attend. The particular B-School play a very significant role in helping you achieve your short/long term goals. Hence when b-school asks you why do you want to do an MBA in THEIR application, they want to know how THEIR b-school's MBA will impact your career goals. You would agree with me that a Yale MBA may be able to fulfill things that an XYZ MBA cannot (and vice-versa). Hence including Yale in your argument makes a more compelling statement than how a general MBA from any b-school will help you.

I understand. The word limit seems very little to answer both questions. That's why I am in a dilemma.

Same issue here. Additionally, I could not find my IR score mentioned in the pdf.

They seem to have corrected the system, and I can now see both my IR and Why MBA question in the final pdf.

The only problem is that just around 210 out of the 250 words of the essay are displayed. Any one else with this problem?

Admissions sent me an email over the weekend saying they had a trouble ticket in to fix the problem but they were still able to see all portions of my application. My mini-essay was 249 words and they see every word.

I am assuming that you mean to say that they could see the 249 words in the final pdf but you couldn't?

I agree. I wrote mine as Why MBA/Yale.

No, it did not show up in the pdf for them either. But they are able to see the essay when they view it in the application's normal view. Here is part of the email I received from Yale SOM,
"the application proof is not populating the correct information on the applicant’s end. We have a ticket in to have this issue fixed, but it is not impacting your application. We are able to see your work essay in the reader ..." and I dont think they mean pdf when they refer to "reader" because I called and the lady on the phone couldnt see my essay in pdf while I was on the phone with her, she had to go into my actual appliction and see it.

Not yet. Too nervous and do not know what to expect.
I read somewhere that they ask job interview type questions like - ethical dilemma, etc.

Hi everyone! In the "Activities/Professional Affiliations" section, should I include activities I participated in during college? Or should I only include activities after finishing college? I am a bit confused about this. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi onion,

What activities you include this section depends on how important those activities are to you and how far removed (or not) you are from college.

If you are still in school and applying to the Silver Scholars program, then by all means, include what you did (are doing) in college!

Otherwise, use your best judgment -- if there are activities that participated in during college, you could include those if you feel they add to what you've done since that time and show the admissions office what type of person you are and how involved you are in your community. If you did a stint with the school paper during first semester of your freshman year of college 10 years ago, that might not add as much value to your application.

Hope that provides some perspective. Try not to over-think this question! Put what's important to you!

I am too, and I am thinking about applying in R2 because of that.

Hi All,

Met Bruce yesterday in an event in London. He acknowledged the issues that a few applicants have faced with regard to content display in the review file. He said not to worry about it as the entire information/essay content will be available with the adcom. Dean Snyder was there as well, and I have to say it was a great experience interacting with him. Tim Collins, the great investment wizard, also made a special appearance. His presence added an extra flavour to an already amazing evening. I was already sold on Yale SOM's magic touch but being there yesterday was another enforcing experience.

I have just submitted my application and will have to now complete video essays by 25th. It will be a race against time. Please do share your experiences on the video essays. I spoke to Bruce about it and he was frank enough to admit that the whole video element will be awkward for everyone. What will be judged is the ability to think on one's feet and clarity in the expression of thoughts.
