Has anybody heard from Kellogg today?

I know some schools start this process a day earlier and surprise a couple of applicants with "Good news" :) Does Kellogg do that too?

I doubt it! I think people will start getting calls on 17th only.

My date has changed to the 16th as well. Guess we'll know pretty soon how the date changes co-relate to admits.

I wonder... If the Adcom finds out that the system is flawed, meaning applicants can find out about the decision even before it is official, would they then stop displaying that information?
If not, and if one of the theories has been proved right, there may be a way to find out about your admit in advance...
But for all of us in R1, I guess it doesn't make a difference.

FROM Kellogg MBA Blog: Northwestern entrepreneurs vie for Hult Prize, $1 million

Members of the winning MMM team pose with three of the first-round Hult Prize judges.

The Hult Prize is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to launching the world’s next wave of social entrepreneurs. Through its annual global case competition, the organization encourages the world’s brightest business minds to compete in teams to solve the biggest global challenges with innovative ideas for sustainable start-up enterprises.

This year’s challenge is to identify a way, by 2020, to provide quality early childhood education to 10 million children who live in urban slums and are under the age of 6. The competition’s grand prize winner will receive $1 million in seed funding, in addition to continued support and mentoring from seasoned social entrepreneurs.

Northwestern recently hosted a first-round event for the Hult Prize. Ten teams, consisting of three to five students, competed for an automatic bid to the Hult Prize regional finals, which will be held on March 13-14 in one of five locations: London, New York, San Francisco, Shanghai, and Dubai. The teams were made up of undergraduate and graduate students from the Kellogg School of Management, Medill School of Journalism, McCormick School of Engineering and The Family Institute.

This year’s winning team was made up of four first-year MMM students: Kate Geremia, Bobby Powers, Nihar Shah, and Derrick Wolbert. Their unique business idea is to become a “preschool resource as a service” to schools in the slums of Africa. The $1M reward would go a long way in helping them achieve their goal, and after winning the Northwestern event, they move one step closer to the prize.

Kellogg’s Net Impact Club sponsored the local event. Judges for the event were:

  • Maria Whelan, CEO of local early childhood education non-profit, Illinois Action for Children
  • Gail Nelson, QRIS Policy Director for the Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development
  • Troy Henikoff, Managing Director at TechStars Chicago
  • Joe Dwyer, Partner at Founder Equity and Digital Intent.

This is what Kellogg's website says:

"DECISION NOTIFICATIONS
Once our decisions are made, we will email you a link to your application status page where you can learn of your acceptance status. Due to confidentiality constraints, we cannot release your decision over the phone"

We cannot call and ask for the status, but they will call the admitted students.

Found a blog post from Ross about how their decision process works. Maybe some high aspiring round 2 applicant will be able to someday crack the video date mystery. Until then best of luck tomorrow.

Quote:
We’re wrapping up Round 1 admissions decisions. Here's how our final stage works: Senior Associate Director Diana Economy reviews the team's recommendations and does the initial shaping of the class. Next, I review the decisions to ensure alignment with the Dean's priorities, then pass it on to Senior Associate Dean Valerie Suslow for approval of admit decisions.

Then, Diana and I go back and review applications to make scholarship decisions (which we finalized at 2 a.m. this morning.)

Finally, admission and scholarship decisions get updated in our database and the team will make admit calls on Wednesday, Dec. 17 (U.S.) and Thursday, Dec. 18 (international).
