Anyone wait listed from round one still waiting on their decision? Trying to feel out whether I should keep hope alive or prepare for a ding. I'm currently wait listed at two schools and still haven't heard from one at all and my consortium decision is not posted yet.

i think the main thing you should worry and think about right now is what do you want, what are YOU looking for. once that is clearly defined - everything is so much easier. nobody can really give you useful advise from a list of schools if they don't know who you are, what you've done, what you're looking to do etc.

eg, if i had asked people about the cgsm shcool, haas would probably have come up as a must apply to....but once i defined my goals, haas naturally fell off the list.

Anyway, sign up to all their mailing lists so you know when events are happening. You don't always have to travel - sometimes they'll come to a city near you...but nothing sucks more than realizing you missed an event in your city 2 months ago.... so sign up!

As you all are getting your acceptances, I wonder if you have any words of advice for prospective CGSM members for 2016? What are the DOs and Don'ts and is it hard to gain membership into the CGSM?

Good on you for getting the ball rolling in advance!

I, personally, don't think there's a magic formula for getting membership into The Consortium. Getting into business school is another story (and for that, you might want to read up at Poets & Quants or Business Week or Stacy Blackman's blog for insights into the process.

It seems that the key to getting into the Consortium is a bit of a combination of fitting into your target schools' profile, really being "'bout it, bout it" for CGSM's mission, and lastly...luck. You can navigate the first two pretty easily, but the third is the changing variable that no one can predict.

Just keep doing what you're doing - talk to folks, be involved on this forum, DO THOROUGH RESEARCH (both on schools AND the application process and nuances), and stay positive. Most everyone one this forum has been granted admission into at least one school, and that's encouraging. Use this network as leverage to help you throughout the process, and you'll be in a good place for the Class of 2018.

Best of luck!

I've been doing quite a bit of research on the sites you have mentioned, also intend on taking the GMAT or GRE in June and applying in R1. I was hesistant on visiting schools this far out and planned on doing a bit of it in late April and May but I will get started earlier thanks to many of you all's input.

My current ranking is:
1 NYU
2 Michigan
3 UNC/Yale
4 Darden
5 Cornell
6 Carnegie

Any advice on those schools and what they look for will be helpful as well.

Yale, Darden, and Cornell will not like being ranked so low.

Yale is very sensitive to rankings.

I was accepted to McDonough today, no word of fellowship. I checked the Consortium page for decision news and the latest status is "application submitted." I'm waiting on McCombs. I'm set on McDonough even without a fellowship, but if I get a fellowship at McCombs, the decision is obvious.

In any case, this has been the most humbling yet rewarding experience I've encountered to date (even more so than pledging at my fraternity in undergrad).

Congrats again to those with acceptances, and good luck to those still waiting, and those with dings, keep your heads up.

Yayayayay!!! Congrats OnePlusOne! See...all hope was not lost after all!

Did Georgetown give you any word on CGSM membership?

If so, see you at OP!

wow, stern actually rejected me...not WL. i expected it at this point, but i'm still shocked. They said, they encourage me to reapply - i can't imagine what I could have done different. i think i'm more shocked because I heard they accept 70% of those interviewed.

i have other great options so i'm not devastated but i'd be lying if I didn't say it stung - they told me to reapply...but they might say that to everyone, i don't know.

Try not to be too down about it. Stern is competitive, as you know. It's just tough to take everyone who is qualified.

Besides, they could've very well only rejected you AFTER they learned from the CGSM draft that you had been admitted and offered fellowship somewhere else. So, they already know you're going to school with a full ride. Perhaps they figured there's no point in waitlisting you if you've obviously gotten into other great schools... #justathought

i like where your head is at! I'm more hopeful for Booth that Kellogg though since bc they interview everyone, you can't tell if there was positive interest or not...at least Booth CHOSE to interview me.

When is the ASW for kellogg? If something magical happens and i get in next week - i need to visit campus coz I only ever made it to their chicago location and not Evanston. Ah well, i'm not really complaining....just can't imagine a process that went BETTER than my nyu process.

one more week!!

to the person above - it's not a scholarship thing - NYU was ranked 1 so they had first dibs.

That's how I felt about Kellogg too, but it worked out. The second ASW, or as Kelloggians call it DAK 2, is April 23 - 26.

I'm waiting on Kellogg too. If I get in, I might take it over the fellowship at stern.
That brings up another question, maybe the moderator knows...can you still be part of the Consortium if you decide to not go to a Consortium school?

No, you have to go to a member school. But I was telling angelfire, while I do think the Consortium network and OP is valuable, I think every student should be more concerned with their school's network. That's what is more likely to get you those dream jobs, simply because it's going to be much bigger.
