Send me a PM and I can tell you more about establishing being aligned to the mission.

Wow, I didn't even get membership because I apparently didn't show enough commitment to the mission. I feel like living overseas the past 5 years really hurt me. Really disappointed, I was looking forward to at least flying out to OP and participating in the network.

I've always been confused by this. Are you not committed if you didn't participate in LEAD, SEO or not a member of the NAACP? Exactly how do you show commitment to the issue?
I am applying this fall, and would appreciate insight from people who has successfully navigated this terain. I am passioante about women's issues, and have devoted my time to that and the military, would I be considered not committed to the "the inclusion of African Americans, Hispanic Americans and Native Americans in American business"?

doesn't haas have a separate financial aid/scholarship process that you have to apply for? You might still get that...and why not spend the next month looking for outside scholarships... there are a number that could help

Consortium membership but no fellowship. Looks like the bschool dream is over for me.

I've appreciated the information and camaraderie the past few months, and good luck to everyone and your pursuits!

I went through the process last year and didn't get enough $ (that's why I reapplied through the Consortium). I don't have any real borrowing capacity due to a prior grad degree, and I'm not willing to give up 2 years to attend a non-top school; given that I'm already a bit older, this is/was my last shot at making it work. :(

ah i see. IMO haas has a pretty decent reputation but I can understand not wanting to take on more debt. I was under the impression that even their merit awards needed a separate app so isn't it stil possible you might get some money from them? where you looking to transition or just move up in your field?

Don't worry, you aren't alone. I got denied membership as well. Small sample of what I do as guidance for future applicants:
- Free to $(Cover my gas money[read $5, there is a reason I had this miniscule charge])/hr Tutoring for low income college students
- Serve on a non-profit board
- Volunteer 15+hrs/week with local sports association (coaching/refereeing)

I am not a "minority" group (neither race nor gender) so I am not too surprised about not receiving a fellowship, but am about membership. But so it goes.

Has anyone been accepted into several CGSM programs. My experience was an admit and then a string of waitlists. What is the opinion on this?

I was warned that the schools look at your rankings to make admission decisions since it impacts their yield percentages, but there are quite a few on this board who seem to have been admitted to multiple CGSM schools and it seems like the rankings weren't held against folks. I didn't apply to many, and I still got into the school that I ranked last so I don't know if they looked at that or not.

If I end up joining CGSM, I think I will get something started to advocate for them collecting rankings from admitted students AFTER they know who is getting in and into CGSM. That way as an applicant, I am only ranking the schools to which I have already been admitted. I know the schools wouldn't love that, but it would certainly be more equitable for us as applicants. Especially since so many applicants say their rankings shift after going through the full process with the school.

more than that, I wish you could CHANGE your rankings maybe like up to a month before the draft. My number 3 became number 5 by the time i got through the whole process.

As you all are getting your acceptances, I wonder if you have any words of advice for prospective CGSM members for 2016? What are the DOs and Don'ts and is it hard to gain membership into the CGSM?

I would also start visiting schools and meeting with admissions officers. That said you need your goals to be tight!

Step 1) GMAT
Step 2) Define goals. (Long-term, Short-term, Industries, Companies, etc.)
Step 3) Start researching schools based on goals.
Step 4) Start visiting schools and wooing admission officers.
