Hi guys,
sorry to jump in. I just checked the app for sep 2016 entry.

INSEAD doesn't have a goals essay?

The goals essay is embedded in your Job Description essays... part of Q1 (What would be your next step...) and Q2 (Discuss your short term and long term career aspiration)... everything has to be consistent toward those aspirations (i.e. your career progression to that next step, how an INSEAD education will help you achieve them, and how you will still want to pursue them even if you don't get into INSEAD). Good luck

It looks like Jan16 intake is not in the list yet - https://prodigyfinance.com/insead/loan

It's already an option once you apply. I have applied to Prodigy and my application is in progress.

Let me guess, you are round 1 applicants with admission offers because if I understand correctly, you need to upload the offer letter to submit prodigy application.

Yes, that's correct. Once you pay your first installment (7k EUR) within 30 days of receiving the offer letter, you will be able to download the 'attestation letter' from MBA connect which is what you need to submit to Prodigy.

For scholarship it says' " Applications must be complete and submitted by midnight Central European Time (GMT+1) on 16 June 2015".

Its a matter of convention how you interpret this, so does it mean the deadline is tonight between 15th and 16th or tomorrow?

Hi,

INSEAD is currently my top-priority program (full-time MBA), but I've recently been advised by a reputable local (Israeli) consulting firm to consider shifting toward top US MBA programs for the following reasons:

1. The long-lasting economic effects of the last financial crisis in Europe has led to a significant decrease in job opportunities, including for top MBA graduates.
2. In view of the detrimental effects of the crisis, all European financial powerhouses have seen a decline in hiring rates, perhaps with the exception of London.
3. Legions of MBA graduates, especially those who don't speak the native language of other European countries, are swarming to London, which in turn has enacted several stringent immigration laws, including for high-value professionals.
4. Job opportunities within the EU and within France in particular are at a low, and the US market has always favored US programs over European ones.
As a result, the value of an INSEAD MBA, particularly for non-French speakers, is now significantly lower than that of top US programs.

Though I haven't found any data corroborating this stand, it does seem to make sense and was proposed by well-informed sources. Would appreciate your views on this.

INSEAD has always been my first choice, perhaps because I'm not particularly targeting to work in the US. ... I would go beyond the Europe vs US paradigm and propose to look at a bigger picture -- the real growth is in emerging markets and I strongly believe INSEAD offers a better edge in this sense.

1) No other b-school has such a diverse student population, having no dominant nationality. Who knows what will happen to US or Europe economy 10 years from now, but being prepared to work in other economies with other cultures will certainly provide the edge.
2) I do not see INSEAD as a French school or even a European school but as a truly international school, a chance to build a truly global network among other INSEAD alumni.
3) Short term -- If the intention is to work in Asia, the flexibility of spending my last two terms in the SG campus when most of the recruitment will happen.
4) The US MBA crowd seems to be getting younger (even with just 2 years experience ) while INSEAD and other European programs are on the more experienced side. I believe the learning from peers with more managerial experience is something of value.

Well, of course it is hard to argue that US is the biggest economy in the world etc...
But an international MBA will be in a similar position there as in London - he would have to compete with zillions of Americans from various American schools, with Ivy league universities for undergrad under their belts etc...and in the light of the world's financial crisis, spending additional year and additional 100k $ in a US program may not be that great decision after all.

Just finished my 2 interviews. Mix feelings..

Quick background : 27, Male, Indian. Working with a global public health organization. Before this, worked with a well known management consulting firm (healthcare practice)

Interviewer one : India MD of a well recognized fashion brand
Time : On a week day - afternoon
Location : Coffee house

He asked basic questions. Why insead, Why mba, international experience and learnings, applying to any US colleges? etc . My concern is that the interview lasted only for 25 mins. Also, out of 25 mins, good 15 mins was about the disease area I work in, my current role - how can one prevent this diseases etc. Overall it went fine

Interviewer two : Senior guy (Director level) of a global tech company
Time : On a week day - afternoon
Location : Office

He asked basic questions - Why Insead, Why mba, why now, international experience and learnings, applying to any US colleges? etc. This time also the interview lasted only for 25 mins. Overall it went okay. Although, first one was better.

I am concerned about the 25 mins. Usually such interviews last for one hour atleast......Anyone experienced the same thing. Bit worried about it.

Well, you met them on a weekday afternoon - so we can assume they had just a short break from work and not much of a room to have a long chat.

In my case both meetings were 2 hours+, but both of my interviewers came to my country for vacation, not business, hence they had much more time.

Thanks for sharing your views. I am hoping the same thing you mentioned but 25 mins is really a short time to know a candidate....Lets see what happens. 15 days to go..

I have also completed my two interviews.

1st Interview
Interviewer was the CEO of a large scale indigenous manufacturing firm. The interview held at his office and lasted about two hours. It was very conversational and we talked a bit about our different experiences working in the consumer goods industry and how things had greatly changed over the years. He attended INSEAD in 2001 so I did not really ask him specifics about life at INSEAD. He touched on all the questions INSEAD required of him to ask, but also tried to make the interview informal. He also shared his successes and failures in business since leaving INSEAD. For me, it was more than just an interview and overall I think it went well.

2nd Interview
Interviewer was a female senior manager at a leading multinational telecom firm from the 11J class and the interview lasted for over an hour. We met at a bar and her style was slightly different. More probing questions were asked, she seemed to be very interested in why I wanted an INSEAD MBA and surprised I did not apply to any other school. When we got talking about work and I mentioned that I was currently interviewing with an e-commerce firm (my choice industry post-MBA), she asked what I would do if I got an attractive offer from the firm. Well, you can guess my response and she totally agreed. Now is the time for an MBA! :-D

Overall, both interviews went pretty well. Apparently, there are few people that go to INSEAD and have negative things to say.

BTW, this whole process is not for the faint-hearted. Everything seems to be happening so fast and July 3 is not so far away. The wait continues...
