My interviewer did tell me though that he thought I did a good job and that I was a good fit.

thanks! i just had the interview yesterday. it was very conversational. i felt like it was very short, and i was not able to cleanly cover everything that i wanted to cover. ultimately, i felt like i left out a lot of information that i think would've been great to convey. i had a lot of stuff memorized to say but didn't get a chance to say it.

i think knowing the core elements of your story and application and being able to weave that seamlessly into the conversation is the best strategy for this interview. i tried to do that where i could, but i still feel as though i left out a lot. oh well.

Interesting. What did you feel you left out? Fit? Or more about your story?

I think more about my story. Compared to my application to another school, my story isn't as well captured in Yale's application. So I needed to make those connections in the interview, I think. But I wasn't able to do that as cleanly as I would like. I was also pretty nervous and that affected how much my answers made sense (or didn't make sense), as my brain tends to shut down when I'm stressed, lol.

The interviewee has your resume only and no other information.

I'm curious who the on-campus interviewers met. Adcom or students? Off-site was Bruce from the video questions.

my wife interviewed on campus on Friday with a member of the adcom, but she said it seemed like most of the applicants got paired with a second year student

Above is an interview of the yale som adcom member. It is important to know what kind of candidates they look for and this interview can help in some ways .

Hi,

I am a reapplicant and I had interviewed last year. As per all the materials I should not be interviewed again this year, but I just received an email from Adcom to interview again via Skype. Did it happen to any other reapplicants? I also checked last year forum and I did not find any mention of a situation like this....

So good news for you my friend. You have high chances in this case..

I felt that my interview was very friendly and conversational..

By the way, how many % does it depend on interview? Is it like a yes or no from interviewer that decides the fate?

Nope. Its not like that. The interview is also a part of the whole process as are the essays recos and gmat scores. The committee again looks at the whole profile and then decide whether you are a strong fit for the programme .

I didn't even send one. Just forget about that you even applied there until you hear from them. In the mean time, think about what other schools you would apply to if you don't get it, or just do something fun like getting a drink...

You will almost always get a 2nd year student as an interviewer if you interview on-campus. You might get adcom if none of the 2nd years are available.

guys i would need your quick help..
I received an email from Yale SOM to fill up the post interview survey.
There they also ask that whether you have been interviewed at other B-schools. Actually I have been interviewed, but not sure of the consequences if I indicate yes?
Would appreciate your help to share your opinion?
