I have just received my official score report and have found out that I only scored 5/6 from AWA. While I'm obviously happy with my overall score (though I know exactly which question I bombed in Verbal and it shouldn't have happened..) I'm a little worried about AWA. Ironically, I was so confident about the essay that I virutally spent only 1h preparing for this section of the test and I assume I must have omitted something that was expected from me in AWA.

I'm going to apply to HSW and I'm wondering whether such a score would not come off as inconsistent with my strong GMAT verbal and personal interest in linguistics.

I'm not a native speaker so on top of GMAT I will be taking TOEFL, which should easily show that I don't have any issues with writing in English.

Thanks in advance for any opinions on that matter.

Hi chris139,

Congratulations on an exceptional score! :) Truly well-done! With regard to the AWA, it is above the average. Hence, don't let it bother you at all. For now, just focus on creating a set of stellar essays and submitting an application that is truly reflective of your capabilities and potential.

All the best! :)
