Got a ding from EL. Said I need to improve my gmat score and reapply. Seems odd considering some folks got interview invites w/o a gmat score.

Interesting that she mentioned that. Because in my email EL said that:

"Given the confidential nature of the Admissions process, I am unable to give you any clear indication as to what elements in your file might have contributed to this decision. It is against INSEAD policy to disclose any information regarding the Admissions Committee’s decision."

So in a way, that is a violation of INSEAD policy if I am understanding it correctly. Anyway, it hardly matters now. I am sorry to hear about your application dude. Do get that GMAT up and hopefully you will get in next year. Good thing that you know about this weakness. It will help you.

dinged, under represented country (think they had 10ish of my nationals in their entire history)
based in london, manager in big4 then fintech (6y total exp) and speak 4 languages
no idea what went wrong

I don't know it's a rejection or not...
the AO said I need to (re)take GMAT to prove my academic capability. If I hand in a competitive score before July 31,i will be reconsidered in round 3.

Pretty surprised with the results for everyone. Guess INSEAD this year is more competitive than usual because a lot of people not looking at the US in the current situation are applying to INSEAD as well as the ambiguity with the treatment of the GMAT. I felt I had a really strong profile even after being based out of India (top GPA, university and work-ex) but my GMAT was definitely low (660). My re-test got cancelled because of Covid which I had mentioned categorically in the application. However, my mail unlike a few from others in the thread, did not say anything about my GMAT being low / applying with another score so not sure if that was the binding decision.

What do you guys recommend about re-applying for September 2021 intake with an improved score? INSEAD was definitely my dream school and I would like to give it another shot.

Hi all,
Just got a rejection letter from my AO but the email was signed by the global director. Anyone have a similar situation? Felt like an automated message to be honest.
I’m from an underrepresented country, applied without GMAT/GRE but was really confident about my profile. Speak 7 languages and self employed, work in non profit / media and entertainment. I also didn’t apply anywhere else as I feel insead was the most ‘me’ and most ‘international’.

Seems to be a very weird outcome for everyone. Wish ya’ll the best.
I may go for HBS next. Who’s planning the same ?

I had the same, a bit disappointing to receive Virginie's signature, I guess the effort on the rejections communications is sadly not the same.

Looking at your profile and a lot of others I feel everyone was very competent !
I had patents and papers and a masters in the USA along with 7 years
I have 200 people reporting to me but I guess Indian candidates are very good and all the candidates are similar or better ! So cannot compare !

HaSh30 Hey I haven't heard for my AO yet. Seems like most folks will wait for Monday which is insane. Another 2-3 days?!! After deadlines were pushed twice. Any advice if we should mail the AO or simply wait to hear?
