Hi all,
I’m sure a lot of us 2020 admits have our joining dates sometime around early Fall (August/September). However, given the current COVID-19 situation, the first available visa interview dates with the US consulate is in the first week of October.
I do understand that there is an emergency protocol for such cases which allows scheduling of visa appointments in these situations, but apparently they take that into consideration only for students returning to the US. (I know a dude whose appeal got rejected)
I was supposed to join SMU Cox on the 17th August, but I’m worried that the visa situation might not change.
I encourage a discussion on this topic for folks facing a similar situation and anyone who thinks can provide any sort of information; it’ll definitely help ease the tension!

Thank you for posting. Is this exclusively for India or other countries have the same timeline as well?

I can only say for India. I did do a quick search for a similar case for Mexico; nothing about the first available interview date was mentioned, but they did suggest scheduling it at most 14 days before the departure date.
