Hello, How are you? Sorry, this Debrief will be a bit long. I am a Military Officer and after getting injured during training I am now planning to go for an MBA to transition from the military into the corporate world. Due to my injury, I can now be promoted to a certain rank now so I don't want that ceiling over my head.
I started preparing for the GMAT in March 2020 with a target to score 650+ which is avg for top b-schools in Canada and UK. I wrote my first GMAT Prep Exam in March and got an abysmal
420 Q31 V20. I was told by some "CONSULTANT" in 30 min free consultation that I should NOT work on my GMAT but target b schools who grant admissions without the GMAT. This platform gave me a lot of confidence to start the preparation.
I bought
Target Test Prep course ($399 for 6 months) and started working on my Quant. After 5 months of prep (half TTP and no verbal prep) in July I wrote another GMAT Prep Exam to check my progress. And to my disappointment I got a 460 Q37 V19. After that I was about to give up but then someone here on GMATClub told me that schools that grant admissions without the GMAT take a good look on the Undergraduate GPA and Subjects. My Undergraduate is in Military Sciences (non-business 5 year program) and with a GPA of 2.95/4.0. So, GMAT was necessary.
I continued with
Target Test Prep and completed the course on 1st October 2020. Started Preparing for the Verbal on 1st October 2020 with
Manhattan Prep GMAT Interact Verbal Course ($549) and Scheduled my exam for 24th October 2020. I completed Manhattan Course by 19th Oct 2020. My mocks + GMAT Official test results with dates listed below
GMAT Prep 1 - 15 Mar 2020 - 420 Q31 V20
GMAT Prep 2 - 02 Jul 2020 - 460 Q37 V19
Veritas Prep - 01 Sept 2020 - 590 Q45 V26
GMAT Club Quant - 01 Oct 2020 - Q47
GMAT Prep 3 - 09 Oct 2020 - 640 Q50 V27
GMAT Prep 4 - 22 Oct 2020 - 740 Q50 V39
GMAT Official - 24 Oct 2020 - 610 Q49 V25
My GMAT Online Experience was extremely bad as I was stopped 3 times between verbal. 2 times to stop murmuring and for 1 time to show the room again. After clicking on View Score and seeing 610 I was shocked. Because I was never expecting such a low score. It was devastating but at the same time I have been trained to not grieve on my faliure but to get back up and plan ahead. I scheduled my exam again on 9th Novemeber 2020 exactly 16 days after my previous exam (which is a requirement)
I knew I can score better than 610. So I only worked on OG material. 3-4 Quizzes of 10 Questions each (Quant and Verbal Both) with 2 remaining mocks
GMAT Club Quant - 02 Nov 2020 - Q49
GMAT Prep 5 - 03 Nov 2020 - 710 Q49 V39
GMAT Prep 6 - 07 Nov 2020 - 740 Q49 V41
GMAT Official - 09 Nov 2020- 670 Q47 V34
My score is still way less than my mock scores. But I think I ll not be writing the GMAT again and will be focusing on the application.
Course Reviews:
Target Test PrepTTP is extreeeeeeeeemly extensive (sometimes annoying). I don’t like their text approach as you have to read through the chapter and then there is an example with a video explanation to it. But TTP helped me ALOT. I can’t thank them enough for creating such an awesome course and if you have time to prepare for the program, no course in the entire world can match TTP. Plus Jeffry is one of the nicest and caring people I have ever seen. Jeffry even help you understand the concepts at 1 AM at night. You just have to click on the chat button and ask the question if you have some problem understanding. TTP guys will respond you most probably in an hour and resolve your issue which is awesome. Jeffry also gives a good pep talk if you are nervous about something 😂😂😂. I strongly recommend TTP.
Manhattan PrepGood course, Extremely expensive (extreeeeemely) and I didn’t get the results. It can be partially my fault as well as I don’t like verbal. But still I can’t recommend that course to anyone.
GMAT Club TestsReally good set of questions which will help you achieve good quant score.
I would love to answer any of your questions plus I would love to hear if you have any advice for me.
See ya!
