Ipsita025
Hi- is there any information around what was asked in ISB Round 1 interviews this year? I am assuming questions are generally- tell me something about yourself; goals; why MBA; why ISB; if not then what etc?
Dear Ipsita025,
Below is a consolidated debrief from some of the applicants we worked with:
1. Lot of emphasis on the career trajectory and choices made till now and rationale behind them.
2. Nitty gritty of essays were asked. Applicants were asked to describe the WHY behind the WHAT.
3. Level of understanding of the post MBA career goal was gauged.
4. Details of the EC position of responsibility mentioned in the application form.
5. How do you plan to address the weaknesses during your time at ISB
6. Decision making for a hypothetical situation and underlying thought process behind the decisions.
7. Nature of interaction with ISB alum (for someone who mentioned an alum’s name in one of the essays / how did you come to know about ISB field in the application form).
8. Details of Leadership instances for applicants who had less than 2 years of professional work experience
9. One random thing about you that is not mentioned in the application form.
10. Seems you didn’t need a MBA to attain your short term career goals. Why do you still want to spend so much?
11. Specific aspects of your profile and experience that will enable to contribute to the P2P learning of the cohort. Please don’t mention generic aspects
12. How will you current industry relationships be impacted if you leave your job for a year.
13. Why did you come back to India directly after pursing an undergrad from the USA? (for someone who did an undergrad from UIUC and immediately came back to India)
14. How can a college graduate be given such major responsibilities in a well established company (for someone who claimed to have led product growth for a mid-sized tech company)
15. Engineering – UPSC prep – Couldn’t clear – Trainer at UPSC Institute – now you want to do an MBA – and then you have consulting as your short-term career goal. It seems like you have made some extremely drastic career choices. Please explain the rationale behind them.
16. Software Dev will become a commoditized skillset due to GAI. Is that the reason you want to move out of a programming oriented career?
