Gmat 735, graduated from IIT and this time interview was good... but didn’t make it... Is it 12+ work experience or introduction of reservation ultimately leading to reduced no of seat for general male?

I gave Gmat on 30th September this year. Didn’t expect that applying in last round could have impact on the selection. Last year applied with 670(classic) in the round 3 and got waitlisted.

Not sure if it's the workex. In the decision tracker for IIMA I saw a guy with 14 years of Workex who got in. I myself was waitlisted in R1 with a GMAT FE score of 715 and Workex of 7 years.
I think IIMA people are concerned that that people with high GMAT scores will eventually ditch their programs to go for an MBA abroad. In my interview also they asked if I had any plans to apply abroad. I did not answer this question well.

I do not think so that assumption can be the basis for the final decision for any college. It could be either messed up interview or diversity factor in my case at least. Limited batch size with reservation might have impact on selection in round 3. To maximise the chances always apply in round 1 of any college.
