If you are a reapplicant, you could write to ISB for feedback.

A few MBA aspirants here provide basic academic details and work experience in terms of grades, company name, and duration -- only. Would you expect the AdCom to evaluate your profile basis this info alone? No, right! So try to provide detailed and well-rounded inputs along with leadership experience, extracurriculars, community service if any, standout and continued interests, career goals, and a long-list of schools you are targetting. This will allow to only scratch the surface but is good for starters. In case anyone wants a detailed 1:1 call with regards to profile evaluation, I am reachable at 9619551984. All the best!

Hi everyone!

I am doing pro-bono calls again this week. If you are applying to ISB or MBA programs: whether exploring your profile or writing out your application, I am happy to help. You can book a free call using this Link.

Why I am doing this? Because it's a brilliant way to give back and a great way to learn. To ensure I am being truly helpful, I usually ask most who sign up to try leaving a testimonial and a rating.

P.S. I am a recent ISB alum. I received a merit scholarship and made a pivot during my time at ISB.

in the re-applicant essay, is it fine to repeat points that were mentioned in other essays as well?
The re-applicant essay should just talk about recent improvements in your profile from the last time you applied. Not ideal to have a lot of overlap with other essays in terms of content.

bagat
ISB profile evaluation

10th - ICSE - 93%

12th Maharashtra Board - 85%

Undergrad from top 4 University in Australia - 65% (Class Average Percentage)

Heavily involved in elected activities at the University, from Vice President at Entrepreneurs Club, to Marketing Director of Oxfam.

Worked in Australia -
~ 1 year part time at the University
~ 6 months as a Marketing Coordinator at University as well
~ 6 months at a IT Recruitment company.

Shifted to India, solo founder of a D2C brand in Beauty and Personal Care.

Won Nykaa’s Top Emerging Beauty Brand Award in 2023.

Looking to move to Founder’s Office Role or VC after.

GMAT FE - 605, giving a reattempt aiming for 650+
Exposure to Australia’s culture can add a unique dimension to your application. Entrepreneurship experience will also give you a fair bit to talk about in the essays. Academics is okay but try to get your GMAT score to 665-675+ to compensate. Founder’s Office Role as a goal makes sense. Your full time work-ex tenure is not exactly clear from the details you have shared so can’t comment on it. Wishing you the very best. Give us a buzz at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) if you wish to discuss any aspect in more detail.

Main Ques - How much score should I be targeting in GMAT FE as a safe zone?

Profile Evaluation:
Personal Info -
23 year old male, family business background of import & distribution

Academics -
94.8% in 10th, 96.6% in 12th (PCM), 8.9 CGPA (BSc CS hons - SSCBS, DU)

Extra-curriculars -
- Cultural head in school
- Organized, as President, a 800+ person offline hackathon (a 36 hr overnight event), raising 7 lacs cash sponsorship
- Actively judged and mentored in national level hackathons
- Been a part of street play club, did around 10 performances

Work Exp -
Worked as an EIR at Poshn, for the last 2 years, a profitable and pre-series-A funded Agri-fintech startup, built a business category of 25 Cr MRR in commodities and food-processing sector, contributing to 30% of company’s revenue, worked along with NBFCs

Side Hustle - broker for Web Dev, Marketing freelancers

Thanks!
Regards!
There is no such thing as a safe score. You have great academics and a unique work-ex which will give you an edge. Extracurriculars also seem interesting. However, the median GMAT score for the 2-3 years tenured applicants is even higher than the overall cohort. So would still recommend to target close to 665-675. All the best! Hello, requesting a profile evaluation
Indian-Male
Age: 23
10th- 10 CGPA
12th- 91% MEC
BBA (Data Analytics and Digital Marketing)—9.8 CGPA IBS, Hyderabad

State level badmintion player under 18 and reached semi finals (highest). Won several nationwide gaming tournaments during covid and currently bootstrapping an Indian-originated and based esports club. Also during 12th grade, I came 2nd in badminton inter college tournament. Part-time and freelance hobbies such as video editor and content creator

3 years of work experience in a market research firm and got promoted from associate consultant to research analyst. With 40-plus market reports across various industries getting converted and published. Trained and mentored 8 associates in my team during my tenure. Although my role had a lot of data analysis-related projects as this includes mostly primary and secondary research. Designed and published a hydrogen supply chain database across major countries to many consulting firms such as Deloitte and EY.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this profile and whether applying in Round 2 would reduce my chances in any way.

GMAT FE - will be giving in Aug

Planning for Indian B Schools for 2026 intake
Curious to know about your post MBA goals and how it related to your past experience. Scores are good and badminton gives the spike. Market research role can surely give enough relevant anecdotes for your application. Why do you want to apply in R2? - If you feel that you wouldn’t have enough time to craft your application properly post giving GMAT in August then that’s fair. In general, R2 conversion rate isn’t worse compared to R1. If postponing your application to R2 gives you a necessary edge then go for it. Also, even if you drop to start your own venture, more than its success or failure, the learnings from entrepreneurship would be the focus area. If the venture is registered, it will count as relevant work-ex. All the best!

Hi,

I have the below profile-

10th - 88% (best of 5)
12th - 94% (best of 4)
Bcom - 64%

Work experience -

3 and a half years at Amazon Marketing
1 year at PepsiCo

I am planning to give GMAT in next 7-8 months time. What do you think about my profile
If you are planning to take GMAT in 7-8 months from now, you’ll likely miss the R3 deadline as well. When do you plan to apply - 2027 intake?

GOVIND89232
Hii , kindly evaluate my profile
10th -10 CGPA
12th -74.6
B.tech- JMI (9.21 CGPA)
Work experience of 2.5 years
Project execution experience -2 years (DLF limited)
Contracts and procurement -6 months ( Godrej properties)
Please share more details around the nature of role, post-MBA goals, extracurriculars, GMAT/GRE for us to be able to evaluate your profile

Vasavan,

Hey, thanks for sharing — and first off, kudos on boosting your GMAT FE from 655 to 715! That’s a serious jump and speaks volumes about your determination.
If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t write myself off just yet. As an alum I can confidently say that ISB is pretty open to re-applicants who show growth — and while you may feel your profile hasn’t changed “significantly,” I’d argue that your GMAT improvement is significant. Add to that your solid acads, DRDO tie-in, and international workshop, and there’s definitely a compelling story to tell.
The key now is how you frame your re-application: What’s changed in your mindset, clarity of goals, or your approach since last year? That narrative can make or break it.
Also, not getting a call last year doesn’t mean you were “unqualified” — R2 is way more competitive, and 655 would’ve made it tough. You’re in a different league this time.
Just my two cents: Don’t overthink what you didn’t do this year — focus on crafting a crisp, thoughtful application that reflects the maturity and self-awareness you’ve gained as a re-applicant. Rooting for you!

Feel free to reach out to seek expert guidance if you need any help with the application !!

Cheers !!

Hello folks,

Quick question: Is it recommended to add Internships in your CV?

For context: I have an work ex of 3.5 years in the same company where I started off as Trainee(Intern) - Associate - Analyst - Senior Analyst. In ECA, I have AIESEC experience of 2.5 years, started a Finance and Investment Cell in my university in undergrad and was a Teaching Assistant for accountancy.
I interned at 2 places in UG (Red Bull and ICICI Securities). Should I add them in my CV? or should I skip them and elaborate/add more points on my current work ex? For now I have clubbed Associate/Analyst in one bucket and senior analyst as a separate one with 3 bullets for each (I have highlighted about my promotions though).

Rationale behind this question is: Previously ISB interviewers only had essay and LOR to know the candidate before the interview but now they also have their CV and linkedin, so I was thinking adding breadth in the CV makes sense as dept is something they can quiz upon during the interview.

Depends on the duration.. but generally internships have not much relevance

Hi utoniumLearns,

Your engagement with Pepsico and experience with working in cross cultural environments may prove to strengthen your overall profile. Avoid referring to yourself as a "freelancer" as business schools may often not see this in serious light. Instead talk about working on individual projects, how different your learning was in this process, and how you utilized spare time, if any.

There is no "safe score" as such but aim for at least a 675 - the higher the score, the better it is going to be.

Should you wish to speak to us in detail, please feel free to inquire with us to schedule a free strategy session.

All the best!

Good academic scores. Your post MBA goals aren’t clear. There is intense competition within the Enng cohort with SDE background looking to break into PM kind of roles. Apart from having a great GMAT score (675+ - no such thing as a safe score!), try to add more unique dimensions to your profile along with clearly articulated essays. Wish you the best! We are just a click away at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) if you wish to discuss any aspect in more detail.

Depends on where you wish to concentrate the adcom’s attention on your resume. If internships form a crucial part of the journey you wish to talk about in your application/interview then makes sense to have sufficient info around it. But if it is not serving a specific purpose then better to either trim the content or remove it altogether.

No such thing as a safe score. But the PGP YL program was intensely competitive during its inaugural year with median CAT score being above 99 percentile and GMAT being 685+. SPJain and NMIMS are relatively much less competitive in terms of exam scores. Wish you the very best!
