Some background: I had a subpar GPA (3.05) in undergrad at a top 25 public university and want to boost the academic portion of my application by taking some classes while working. I have a job as an analyst at a top asset management company. My GMAT is 760 and I am taking the CFA Level 1 in June.
I know most people would recommend just taking a couple classes after undergrad to build an alternative transcript, but I would prefer to have something to show for these extra classes. I am debating doing UC Berkeley's Certificate Program in Finance (
https://extension.berkeley.edu/cert/finance.html). It's only 7 classes and the material relates to the CFA material I am studying so it should be somewhat easy for me. I am 100% confident I could get a 4.0 in the program--my undergrad GPA was the result of a lack of effort/interest in my classes and that is not the case anymore.
It would be great if some people could share their thoughts on this program... Will it actually help my application? Does it hold any weight outside of an MBA application? Thanks.
