Hi Team,
I am writing to You to help me make a decision on the my MBA journey, I am Consultant with 5.5 years of work experience and with a Employment GAP of 2.5 years(Age 29). While I planned to do an MBA in a year from now, I came across the fact average student in top college is around 26-27. I am not sure how the GAP is going to affect the process or should i try for EMBA after few more years of experience.Your inputs are much appreciated.
Hi,
A career gap always raises eyebrows and needs to be explained through the optional essay. A 2.5 years gap is a long one and is likely to be unforgivable unless you have some very strong reason for it. Have you been doing something during this period which would add on to your business or technical skills? Like a venture or some volunteering work? Or do you have extenuating circumstances that have prevented you to work under any circumstances?
My concern is that if you apply for a 2021 admission, would you remain unemployed for another year? That would still not go down well with the admissions committees.
Unless you have some very strong reasons for being unemployed at present, you should try to get yourself a job and then apply for an MBA in the future
