Hi all,
I wanted to ask some advice about considering a GMAT retake. I took the exam last month and I was very happy to score a 730. The reason I am considering a retake is because the target schools I will apply to all have a GMAT average score of 730 or higher. I hope to apply to HBS, GSB, Booth, Columbia, Wharton, and Berkeley. I know my GMAT score is good enough to apply, but since I am a younger MBA applicant with only 2 years of work experience, I was hoping the GMAT could help me standout more in my application. I wanted to get some advice on whether you guys would advise a reattempt. I am looking to apply this fall so I have around 6 months before my applications are due. Thanks!

First off, a 730 is an outstanding Score, so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. As such, a retest is probably not necessary. What were your Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores - and what specific types of Programs are you interested in? You're ultimately asking Admissions questions, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement.

Hi sarss2306,
If you are concerned about your low experience, then I think you should work on improving your work experience and extracurriculars. Higher GMAT will always be better but I don't think it will help you stand out or outweigh your low experience. Perhaps consider waiting a year or doing more extracurricular work that is professionally relevant. I am by no means an expert, this is just my thought. Perhaps considering using the free evaluation calls that many admissions consultants provide to get different perspectives.
