Should I Retake? 680 Q49 V32

Question

Hello to all.
I would like to have an advice if I should retake the exham and in case when (next week would be too soon? I have finished the CATs).
I was aiming at a 700+ score and I would like to apply to Insead (avg. admitted score 703).
However on the test day I performed poorly on the Verbal Section and there is quite a large discrepancy between Quantitative section and Verbal section. More than this, the Verbal score was the lowest I have ever reached.

A 680 should be competitive at a school where the average is around 700, so as long as your other profile components are in place and you feel you have an application that stands out in other ways beyond the GMAT, you should be fine to apply with that score. Taken again today.
I scored 720 (Q49, V40, IR8).
I would apply for either a 1 year program ( Insead, LBS, Judge, Said, Imd) or a 2 year top tier program (HBS, Stanford, Columbia, Wharton).
I have been working in a mid market private equity firm for 4 years and i would like to remain in this industry or to start my own business.
What should I choose?

720 with Private Equity experience would be a nice profile, but not so unique that it would be a shoo-in at the super elite schools. Lots to consider in your decision including how much of the basic MBA curriculum you need (and won't get in a one year program) vs. time out of the market and opportunity cost of a 2-year program. There's also the consideration of jobs afterwards. If you do your own thing, you should go with the one year MBA, since you won't need the cache of an M7 school to land a job. If you are going for an employer, you might do well with the marquee names. You might as well apply to both and see what offers come in. Let us know if we can help.
