Hi,
it would be great if you could guide towards right direction. My short term goal is to join Venture capital or Private Equity (PE) company in the USA, long term run my own PE business in Europe.
I'm considering following schools, not only to get into but also to get decent scholarship :
1. Darden - full ride scholarship
2. Kellogg - at least 25% of the cost
3. Kelley - full ride scholarship
4. Emory - full ride scholarship
5. McCombs - at least 25%
I'm 31 male from Eastern Europe.
I took gmat 2 times last one is the highest 680 (q49,V33). I have 2 bachelors degrees:
1. Bachelor of General Studies from University of Connecticut (considered Ivy public school) - GPA 3.1
2. Belarusian State University (major Law and economy) - GPA 7.3 out of 10
I have more than 8 years of work Experience. When i was young i started my own construction company in the USA back in 2006, 2008 due to recession i closed business moved into marketing sphere. My career progressed from Account Executive in small Marketing Company in the USA, to Head of Marketing at Exclusive representative office of Diageo in Belarus, to Marketing Category Manager at multibilion technology company in Europe (not well-known) responsible for launch and development of 2 product categories widows tablets and interactive displays in 70 countries globally.
Extracurricular activities:
Case club Belarus, co-founder (2010-2013); Member of International Project “European Youth Parliament” (2002-2006)
Sports: Swimming (member of Belarusian State University swimming team, department’s champion 2005), tennis, skiing
Currently, i'm considering MBA as an opportunity to switch my career to Private equity. It would be great if you could evaluate my profile and recommend course of action, as i'm planning to apply 2 Round for 2016 fall intake.

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing your background. A couple things that you want to keep in the back of your mind as you start developing expectations - you're a bit on the older side of the applicant pool, your GPA is low, and your GMAT is below the median at all your target schools except Kelley. While I think your work experience is good, it just doesn't stand out from the pile. Your involvement/EC is decent - what is "Case club Belarus" - what was your impact here? This could be a point of emphasis as you really need to stand out from the crowd - especially if you're looking for a scholarship. The rest of your activities are good, they don't demonstrate your leadership or impact.
To combat your low GPA, you might want to consider enrolling in an online class to demonstrate your ability to handle the rigor of the foundational MBA courses (finance, accounting, micro). I think there are a few transferrable skills from your work experience to your future goals, but you need to think about developing a narrative around this. I think the schools you're targeting are a bit ambitious. I think you can apply to 2 out of Darden, Emory, and McCombs. Kelley is a good option and I would consider one more in the top 20-30 range. Scholarships are tough to predict, but again, the way you get selected for scholarships is to demonstrate a unique twist to what you bring to the school, and I'm struggling to find that with your profile. That doesn't mean it's not there, we just need to dig a bit deeper to pull it out.

Low GPA - is it really that relevant if i demonstrate decent score at GMAT and good career progress?
Schools ambition - how can i strengthen my application to secure Kellogg and other schools? Raise GMAT to 720 at least? What else? If to demonstrate leadership - professionally i always have led projects and people. Outside the work - i've been active participant in different organizations and founded case club, which helped people to get into MBB in Russia and Ukraine.
Schools in lower range - which one would you recommend for me to consider based on my goals?
