Thanks for the responses guys.

Hi Kelzie01,
Your age is indeed older than the average at the top schools, but not too old.
In general, European programs are a bit more open towards older candidates. I'd also consider EMBA programs, which are more suitable for older and more experienced candidates. You can read more about it here

The problem is my experience level is more in line with a traditional MBA. I have 5/6 years and from what I've seen most EMBA programs are looking for 10ish.

Thanks for the post. The schools will know your age from your application as you mentioned. In terms of your years of experience, this could either help you or hurt you. Why did you graduate in 2010? Were you doing military service beforehand? That is the best reason for applying older and if that's the case it won't hurt you as much.

Well...my husband was doing military service. Hard to finish a degree when you're moving every couple years. But I don't know if they're as forgiving of a military service by proxy.

As stated above it really depends. I think your specific story is something you can explain in an optional essay and as a female applicant, which are still underrepresented in MBA programs, the AdComm should be a bit more forgiving. Now depending on what your career goals are I think this is more of an important factor. Certain program types lend themselves to better recruiting opportunities and also certain industries may have more question marks about an older candidate
