Hello,
I am looking for an advice on which one to apply for:
My profile
Indian
Bachelors of Engg. CGPA 7.55 2009
4 years in Cisco with a promotion and a year in Holland.
Took a sabbatical from Cisco and a year of backpacking around 23 countries in Europe/asia
3 and a half years of a travel business (Hostel +Tours) that I started and is Profitable. I didn't get into funding and tried to expand this business to a sustainable tourism project in a village but couldn't . Brought me to MBA to improve my business skills, get more knowledge and a network for my next attempt.
GMAT 780 (Q50 V 47 IR8 AWA 5)
My LoRs from my manager at Cisco and the tourism department officer [I have a B2C business so difficult to get LoRs from clients] from the place I am working in should be pretty good.
I plan to work in a travel company such as Expedia as a product manager post MBA for a while and open a travel business long-term.
what are the job prospects in my field after MBA from these colleges? I know this is a unique profile so there is not much information online.
My main concentration is travel industry but I have been very interested in sustainable tourism and my project has a lot to do with sustainable tourism and local community and I like having a meaning/purpose and a challenge

I am applying to Fuqua, Kellogg, Darden and am looking to add one more.
with the speculation about H1B and the fact that I will have to find a job on my own from most colleges, Rotman gets more attractive.
Any suggestions?

Hi Sanjay, I would vote for a McCombs given that they have a startup entrepreneurship orientation, it just seems to fit the best with your past and future trajectory. If you have some super data-oriented goal in the future then Tepper would make sense and I understand where you're coming from Rotman, especially given the political climate here in the US. If that is your highest priority that I guess apply there but I think the fit factor is McCombs, and the tuition there is significantly lower so that's sort of helpful. With your GMAT score I think there's a good chance you could get a really sizable scholarship if you do the application well. It's not really so much only about your GMAT and work experience but it's also about your goals what you want to get out of business school it's about establishing that fit between your goals and their programs so really think about it from that perspective okay. I recommend that you listen to the TouchMBA YouTube podcast on each of these three schools. When you listen to them look at the essay prompts and think about how you might use the information your hearing to answer the question. I recommend that you also apply to MIT given that they are the leader in the area of sustainability. Also the application deadline is jan 17 so you will have a few days to put it together after the other ones are done and it's a fairly short app. Texas is known for energy as well

This helps a lot. I decided really late for going for MBA and have been choosing schools while filling applications for the ones I have decided on.
My Thought process is
1. Most people say its tough to get jobs in travel right after MBA. Hospitality/travel firms such as TripAdvisor, Expedia come to Kellogg and Fuqua[ I have checked with students] and I can start work with them and move to a different location such as Canada if H1B doesn't work out.
kellogg, Fuqua, Darden brands are well-recognized and I can still get jobs in Canada after a degree in US.
IN case of Mccombs, I am not so sure how much it will help me in case I have to go to Canada. [ This is my lack of knowledge. I don't have information from any credible source on this, maybe you can help.]
Rotman is the best brand in Canada and has increased its focus on entrepreneurship. After finishing the degree, I will have a 3 year work permit in Canada and I can work for startups if not a bigger travel company in Canada.
What do you think.
PS: MIT Sloan- I will take one at a time. I have a lot on my plate with the current applications but will definitely try to apply there.
