Hi, I am a lawyer working with top tier law firm in the country. I have been working for 2 years now, and my practice area has been predominantly venture capital. I graduated from a national law university in the year 2016. I am currently preparing for GMAT. What are my chances to get into a good B-school programme? Would a MIM (Masters in Management) course be a better fit for me?

Hi Garima,
That's an interesting profile and it would be easy for you to justify the need for an MBA if you can tie it with your career goals properly. With three years' experience at matriculation, you'd be eligible for both MIM and MBA programs. MBA v/s MIM would depend upon your expectation from either programs. You'll find a more matured class at MBA, you may be one of the youngest in the class ( you can even wait another year before you apply). If you join an American MBA, your program will also be longer in duration as compared to an MIM- this is not a bad thing. A longer program will give you the chance to experience the MBA life and all the benefits it brings (academic, exracurricular, networking, internships) to the fullest.
The post MBA/MIM job opportunities will also vary, and that can be a key criterion to decide upon the program you should go for.

Hi garima5, being a lawyer will not bar you from eligibility (but I recommend that you connect VC with MBA goals in your essays)
However, we would need a whole lot more information before evaluating your chances for a top B-school.
I'm attaching my client questionnaire to give you some idea about the factors I look for/what qualities the adcom is seeking.
