I need your advice and help please.

Question

I'm planning to give GMAT but there are some questions in my head if i should even give it a go. I have briefed out my profile below:

1) Got 8.4 CGPA in 10th grade and failed in 12th grade, gave it again and got 75%.
2) I failed in my engineering 2nd year again, cleared everything and got 55% in the end.
3) After graduating, I have been working in an MNC and received multiple promotions since joining (not that it matters).

My short term goal would be get into the leadership positions in an org and my long term goal would be to use that experience and start my own venture (if possible).

Now, coming back to the question - Do I have a change to get into good business school? I know its very difficult for my profile but if i score 700+ in GMAT would it be possible?

It took me a while to post it here but your suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Sam2412,

Your profile is very basic in comparison to the applicant pool that you would be going for. If you have a good story along with a good score you still stand a chance to make it to a good school.

But consider this:
You are targeting Top 15-35 B-Schools in India:
a) Not all B-schools accept GMAT score ---- Thus, narrow down your target schools
b) Consider the financial aspect also --- on an average you will be spending about 15-20 lakhs for an MBA admission. In order to get a good ROI you will have to make it to one of the best schools in India and ace over there as well specially in these turbulent times.

I recommend you to either create an extraordinary application or plan to excel in your current job.

Actually, i'm looking for top 15-35 business school all over the world and not specifically to India.

But, I really appreciate your thoughts.

Till now your academics is not your strength. Through your academics you cannot impress them therefore now find out what is otherwise strength in you. Something in which you have done phenomenally well, be it hobby or call it extracurricular activities,find out about it. 
Have a good GMAT score and build your profile around it, and if you want a leadership role then convince them till now what you have done it leadership, remember if you want to take a MBA as an springboard to kickstart your career to many level up without till now being successful then they will not let you because as an institute their reputation will come at stake but if you can prove your worthiness then definitely they can think about you.
