As far as I know colleges only consider the final gmat score that you provide with your application. Although they may have all your scores but only the highest one is considered. So if you score higher in your next attempt I don't think that your previous attempt will be perceived as negative because you have actually shown improvement.

Hi lexaers,

It doesn't affect your application since B-schools consider only the best GMAT score for evaluation a candidate. If you apply with a certain score X and feel you can do better than X, it is advisable to reappear and send across the latest GMAT score to your target school.
That only increases the chances of admission and have worked wonders for candidates in waitlist / seeking a better scholarship.

Hope this helps. Take care.

Cheers !

Hi,

I am about to take the GMAT this friday. Sadly, I could only manage 1 week of dedicated preparation. I just did a practice test without having gone through all the material and I scored 610.

I must accept my score on friday if it is above 600, and I will definitely retake the gmat in the near future as I am not satisfied with anything below 740 as I know it is within my reach but I was wondering if this would somehow be perceived negatively for any future MBA applications?

I really wanted to get a good score from my first try but due to health issues and deadlines I don't think it is possible.

Thanks for the feedback in advance.
