Hi, I am currently a college senior thinking of applying for master next year.
I have a 680 Gmat (gonna retake it, aiming 700), an undergrad degree in finance and tech from Kelley School of Business (IU), and a 3.3 GPA (my weak point).
I also had three internships in corporate finance, equity, and digital marketing.
I am considering the following programs
1. Duke - Fuqua MSF
2. IU - Kelley MSIS (my safety since I go here for undergrad)
3. UT Austin - McCombs MSF
4. Cornell - Johnson MPS Finance
5. Umich - Ross MSA
6. UCLA
7. NYU - Stern MSP
8. UVA
9. Northwestern - Kellogg
10. Georgetown
11. Boston College
12. UIUC
Hello
kevinlin478,
Since your GPA is your weak point, you will really want to secure a strong GMAT to demonstrate that you are prepared for the rigor of these programs. You have a good range of target schools on your list. For some of the more competitive schools on your list (Kellogg, NYU Stern, Duke Fuqua, UCLA Anderson), you will want to score closer to a 720 or 730. For some of the safer schools (Georgetown, Boston College, etc.), your 680 may be sufficient.
If you want to improve your chances for the more competitive programs,
Personal MBA Coach can help you maximize your score through our
customized tutoring services with tutors who have scored in the 99th percentile on the GMAT / GRE and are graduates of MIT, Harvard, and UPenn.
You have likely had some strong leadership experience through your 3 internships, and it will be important to leverage this in your applications. How many programs do you anticipate applying to? We recommend applying to 5 to 7 to increase your chances of acceptance.
