Thank you for your response!
Right before content engineer, my role was that of a senior editor. Post restructure, the entire operational model changed - going from a separate editorial department and a separate operations and commercial team to a vertical system where each business unit had a few CEs, project managers and a portfolio manager managing that business unit. In this system, the content engineer is the primary stakeholder right from idea commission, to reviewing and approving the proposal, to preparing the outline, reviewing the author profiles that are short listed to be onboarded. Then, once the author is onboarded, working with them and coaching them to develop content, taking end to end ownership till the publication and afterwards with customer feedback and reviews. Compared with the senior editor role where the division of work was in terms of editorial+content (senior editor), contracting and idea proposals (commercial team) and marketing etc post publication (also commercial team), my current role involves taking charge of the entire project from a nascent stage and oversee all the aspects including marketing, content quality, author retention etc.
I hope this makes sense.

In terms of ECAs, how do you recommend presenting them as mine are mostly hobbies and personal interests that I have put time into over the past few years? For example, I have a film page on Instagram, a small YouTube channel and I have been powerlifting for 5 years. Please recommend how to quantify and present them.

For GMAT, shall I target a score of 685+? I’ll look into GRE as well.

Hi T19S,

Some points to consider regarding your profile:
  1. One of the strongest aspects of your profile is your career progression. Multiple promotions within ~5 years at the same organization reflect strong performance, growth potential, and increasing responsibility, which MBA adcoms value significantly. Your current role as a Content Engineer also gives you a differentiated angle compared to the typical IT applicant pool, especially because your work involves global stakeholder management, content strategy, ownership, and collaboration with tech experts. The important part will be positioning your work from a business impact and strategic lens rather than making it appear purely editorial.
  2. Your academics are fairly decent overall. A GMAT Focus score of 675+ or a GRE score of 325+ would place you in a competitive position. If you are starting preparation from scratch, GRE may feel slightly more manageable, although GMAT tends to keep more options open for one-year MBA programs in India.
  3. The biggest area to work on now is building clarity around your post-MBA goals and ensuring they align well with your experience and future trajectory.
  4. I agree with the other comments that most of your extracurriculars are from undergrad. Having something more recent — even small initiatives, mentoring, volunteering, or leadership activities — would further strengthen your profile.

    All the Best!

Happy to connect if you’d like to discuss your profile in more detail.
