Alex, I'd appreciate your opinion on my profile. I'm looking to matriculate in Fall of 2011.
Male 26 (27 at Matriculation)/American
Graduated in top 25% from United States Military Academy at West Point - 2006
-The first class admitted after 9-11
Major: International Relations(Focus Middle East) / Environmental Engineering
GPA: 3.3/4.0
GMAT: 650 Q:45 V: 33 (I plan to study and take the test a second time in early September, I have a good plan to improve)
Work Experience (5+ years Active Duty Service)[/u]
Upon graduation I completed US Army Ranger School, the Army’s toughest training and most respected for Leader Development. Following this, I led a 38-member Platoon through the surge in Iraq over the course of a 15-month deployment to a very volatile area. I mentored an Iraqi Army Platoon and Swat Team on over 350 combat patrols. I captured 15 high value insurgents, participated in a major action to recover the remains of two American Soldiers who were missing in action in July 2008, built the first girls school in my area, earned the Combat Infantry Badge for direct action against an armed enemy, and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for combat leadership and Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars.
Following this, I was assigned as second in command of a 130 member Infantry Company. I was responsible for all logistics, property, and maintenance of all company equipment. I also transformed the unit from a mechanized to light infantry force.
Next, I assumed command of a training company and have trained over 800 Soldiers and prepared them for the United States Army. Directly supervised 17 experienced cadre members and managed all training requirements.
Extra-Curriculars
Designed Ranger Preparation Program to assist enlisted Soldiers in their preparation for demanding training.
United States Military Academy Social Sciences Department Winning the Peace Mentor for upcoming seniors at USMA.
Completed internships in the Pentagon, France, and Turkey during time at West Point
Post MBA Goals
I'd like to work in a general management function in an international development / project management role.

You should shoot higher. You have a stronger profile than you think.
From what you wrote, the only potential negative is your current GMAT score. But if there's anyone whose lower-than-average GMAT will be overlooked by an adcom, it'll be yours.
Take a look at applying to HBS, Stanford, and Wharton. You are competitive enough to give these schools a serious try. Adcoms see enough officers that they can benchmark you vs other officers - and being a Ranger is certainly a huge asset (in fact I worked with a Ranger and a SEAL in the past, as well as a few Navy and Army guys in pretty specialized positions). In fact, your profile sounds very similar to someone I've worked with in the past, and he got into every school he applied to including HBS and Wharton.
The schools you listed are places where you shouldn't have a problem getting into, even with your current GMAT score. Sounds like you're committed to the east coast, so I'd drop Stanford from the three, so the list could look like: HBS, Wharton, Sloan, Darden, Duke. I don't think you need to apply to Georgetown, and add Yale as the sixth school if you have time.
What I encourage you to do is to reach out to the veterans at these schools through the various veterans clubs at each of these schools - they will be able to give you a ton of advice on their own experiences as well as your case. The big schools like HBS, Wharton and Darden all have a sizeable veterans population and an active veterans' club (just google for their websites and contact info), and they are known to be very helpful to people like yourself.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I did not expect such positive input. I know I have alot of phenomenal experiences but did not know business schools valued ranger training.
I will improve my GMAT and follow your general guidance on essay development. I plan to write about learning how to fight the insurgency by using microgrants and school building rather than direct action raids. I think business will have the overlap where it is the appropriate combination of different tools to reach an objective and benefit those around you.
I will also learn about securing the remains of formerly missing in action American Soldiers and leading my men through a MEDEVAC of three of our wounded men after a 500 pound bomb hit the vehicle in front of me.
I am very motivated and much more confident after all you mentioned. Do you consider Columbia a good application possibility as well? I am not as much interested in finance as I am in leader development, strategy fields and i know Columbia MBA homepage says they are trying to diversify their image.
I am applying to all Northeast / east coast because I am from NJ. I have been away from home for much of the last 5 years including the last 3 thanksgivings and multiple christmases. I am ready to be able to develop myself, help my region, and take care of my family that has been hurt by the economic situation in NJ.
I put everything on hold as a high school senior as I watched the twin towers fall from the roof of my high school. I am trying to get back to a different type of life.
Sorry for the long-winded response. I just want to tell you I truly appreciate your kind and positive feedback. I will work hard improve my score and shoot higher.
