In the first sentence, there is not main verb.
A) is wrong.
B) I feel the sentence does not go in the same way as the first one.
C) the "being rebuilt in 1900" is awkward.
D) Is right, flows well
E) having first opened... is awkward at the end, and it sounds like it modifies the immigrants, and not the Ellis Island station
