1st split I used is "Planet has not been warmed" vs "Planet had not been warmed". "Has not been warmed"is the right usage and hence Option D and E can be eliminated.
In the option A, "Near-Infrared spectra" (an independent clause) starts immediately after the comma which is wrong and hence a conjunction is needed there. Hence option A is eliminated.
Between B and C, it is "Which indicates" vs "indicating". Which points to planet's surface rather than the methane ice. Hence option B can be eliminated which leaves Option C as the answer.
1st split I used is "Planet has not been warmed" vs "Planet had not been warmed". "Has not been warmed"is the right usage and hence Option D and E can be eliminated.
