We are finding reason why Sanchez wedding is being reported in tabloids, hence Because will be added in the start of sentence to show the reasoning.
Hence Options A,C and D are crossed out.

Among B and E
B is fragmented. The dependent clause after last comma is incomplete without it's action stated for same.
E is depicting the action followed By the dependent clause.
Hence E is better choice

Being that Sanchez is a popular actor, with much fanfare, his wedding is being reported by the tabloids.

A. Being that Sanchez is a popular actor, with much fanfare, his wedding is being reported by the tabloids - 'being' is a verb that can only be used to highlight a state of existence; it cannot be used to describe a reason.
B. Because Sanchez is a popular actor, the tabloids are reporting his wedding, with much fanfare - (B) implies that the ''wedding'' is what has ''much fanfare'', whereas the intended meaning of the sentence was to highlight that Sanchez has ''much fanfare''.
C. Being that Sanchez is a popular actor, the tabloids report with much fanfare, his wedding - has the same error as described in (A).
D. Since Sanchez became a popular actor, his wedding has been reported, with much fanfare, by the tabloids - By using the present perfect tense ''has been'', (D) implies that Sanchez's wedding is still continuing to this day (lol)
E. Because Sanchez is a popular actor, his wedding is being reported, with much fanfare, by the tabloids - has no error. Hence, (E) is the right answer choice.

WIll someone pls explain why B is wrong.
I agree that E is right, but B seems to be same written in active voice.


"With much fanfare" in option B is preceded by comma, so it modifies whole clause itself.
Pls suggest.

I understand that "with" conjunction usually either gives the effect of a preceding clause or provides additional information about the subject of the preceding clause and is a logical sub-component of such subject. https://gmatclub.com/forum/usage-of-wit ... 01311.html

B. Because Sanchez is a popular actor, the tabloids are reporting his wedding, with much fanfare

I have a question:- in B, is "with" referring to "tabloids"? If yes, would it be correct to say that in the case of B, "with" is illogically referring to "tabloids" when it should be referring to "reporting" since "much fanfare" is actually modifying the reporting and not the subject i.e. "tabloid"

But if I take the above logic, in E, "with" is also referring to "wedding" when it should infact refer to "reported"?

I am not understanding the usage of "with" here. AndrewN - please help!

Hello, ravigupta2912. Yes, you have it exactly right with (B) and the confusion it presents. You can legitimately interpret the sentence as saying that the fanfare surrounds the tabloids, rather than the popular actor himself or the coverage of his wedding. Since this with phrase is unclear, we should not get behind the answer choice.
