A verb must never be in a comparison phrase that uses like.
Stated differently, like is never followed immediately by a full clause that includes a verb.

My answer is (E). It took me 01:23.
First split: "takes" or "take".
In order to be parallel with "distill", "take" should be used. Eliminate A, C and D.
An interesting question arises: Is "take a human experience and distill it into something that moves us and teaches us a universal lesson about the experience" a sentence or fragment?
I originally think it is a sentence, but it does not contain a subject. An imperative sentence does not need a subject, but this is obviously not an imperative sentence.
So it is a fragment.
Now, between (B) and (E). (B) can only be correct if "take a human experience and distill it into something that moves us and teaches us a universal lesson about the experience" is considered a sentence. If we already establish that it is a fragment, (B) can be eliminated.
Even if it is considered as a sentence, semi-colon does not convey the logical relationship between two "clauses".
