My answer is (C). It took me 01:11.

The use of "but" in the un-underlined part is abrupt. If Birds of prey have an average of 3 feet, we certainly expect some with shorter wingspans and others with much longer ones. No real surprise / contrast here to merit a "but". A colon (:) should work better than "but".

(A) "at least seven and a half feet or more": Either "at least" or "or more", but not both.

(B) "like" cannot be used to introduce examples in GMAT. Use "such as" instead.

(D) (1)Either "at least" or "or more", but not both.
(2) To be parallel with "some" in "some have shorter wingspans", we expect to read "others".
(3) "Greater than some others" is unnecessary. If "some have shorter wingspans" (than three feet), we know only too well that the Griffon Vulture has longer wingspans than some other birds of prey.

(E) "some others" is plural, so "has" should be "have". In making the change, we will get (C).

Birds of prey have an average wingspan of three feet, but while some have shorter wingspans, some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more.

A) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more - "or more" makes sentence long

B) the Griffon Vulture, like some others, have a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet - sentence presents example, so "like" doesn't indicate example.

C) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet
- Correct

D) the Griffon Vulture has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet or more, greater than some others - meaning changed

E) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet - some others has - incorrect

A) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more
at lest is enough addition at most is making it redudant

B) the Griffon Vulture, like some others, have a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet
such as is prefered over such for introducing examples and for parallelism it should be such as

C) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet
parallelism is perfect , have is the right usage therefore let us hang on to it

D) the Griffon Vulture has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet or more, greater than some others
has isn't the right usage therefore out , greater than some other isn't conveying the right meaning therefore out

E) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet
have is the right usage therefore out
Therefore IMO C

(C) is correct

A) "or more" is redundant at least seven implies 7 or more.

B) Subject verb disagreement: The Griffon Vulture is singular subject so plural verb "have" is not correct.

C) Correct

D) Same redundancy issue as that in A

E) subject verb disagreement
Subject, some others, is plural and verb for it is singular.

Birds of prey have an average wingspan of three feet, but while some have shorter wingspans, some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more.

A) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more

B) the Griffon Vulture, like some others, have a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet

C) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet

D) the Griffon Vulture has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet or more, greater than some others

E) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet

A) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more
This option brings in redundancy, at least alone is sufficient to signify the meaning. - Incorrect

B) the Griffon Vulture, like some others, have a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet
This has issue with subject-verb agreement, the Griffon Vulture talks about a particular species of birds, and it agrees with singular verb only. - Incorrect

C) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet
This has no redundancy or subject-verb disagreement and is short and precise. We can keep it.

D) the Griffon Vulture has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet or more, greater than some others
This also has the similar redundancy as in option A. Also, there is a slight change in meaning with the phrase greater than some others at the end. - Incorrect

E) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet[/quote]
This also has subject-verb disagreement. some others agrees with a plural verb, hence have would be correct here. - Incorrect

Since, all options are eliminated except C, the correct answer is C.

Birds of prey have an average wingspan of three feet,
but
while some have shorter wingspans,
    some others,
    such as the Griffon Vulture,
have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more.

Note the redundancy in the usage, between 'at least' and 'more'. Either one of them is sufficient to arrive at the meaning of the sentence. Also, here we see the usage of while to express two different things that co-exists in parallel. Example: In our team, while some prefer ice-cream, others prefer popsicle.

A) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more
Redundantly using at least and more together, and hence not concise. Eliminate

B) the Griffon Vulture, like some others, have a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet
Original sentences is not to compare between birds with shorter wingspan and the Griffon Vulture. Changes the meaning and not parallel to the non-underlined part. The Griffin Vulture is also singular. Eliminate

C) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet
Concise, clean and correct. Answer choice is C.

D) the Griffon Vulture has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet or more, greater than some others
Changes the meaning and not parallel to the non-underlined part. The Griffin Vulture is also singular. Eliminate

E) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet
has usage here is singular, while the subject is plural. Eliminate

Birds of prey have an average wingspan of three feet, but while some have shorter wingspans, some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more.

A) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more -> When we used "at least" then why do we need " or more". Incorrect.

B) the Griffon Vulture, like some others, have a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet -> like is not used for examples. Incorrect.

C) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet -> Both errors are corrected. Let's keep it.

D) the Griffon Vulture has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet or more, greater than some others -> Some have something, then we need to use some have another things to maintain parallelism. Incorrect.

E) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet -> SV agreement error. Incorrect.

So, I think C. :)

Correct Option : C

Original sentence:
Birds of prey have an average wingspan of three feet, but while some have shorter wingspans, some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more.

Elimination Process

1. Selection between "Such as" and "Like" - selected "Such as" as (Griffon Vulture structure) comparison to other, "like" is rejected, as it doesn't mean for any example and Noun to Noun comparison
Rejects : B - left with A, C, D and E

3. Have (plural) vs Has (singular)
Wingspans - plural
Rejects - E - Left with A, D and C

2.
(At least ...)
Vs (At least X or More) too wordy and Redundancy
Vs (At least X or More + Greater than) --- too wordy and Redundancy
Rejects A, and D - left with C

3. Have (plural) vs Has (singular)
Wingspans - plural
Rejects - E
Left with A and C

A) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more

B) the Griffon Vulture, like some others, have a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet

C) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet
- Winner

D) the Griffon Vulture has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet or more, greater than some others

E) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet

Birds of prey have an average wingspan of three feet, but while some have shorter wingspans, some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more.

Initial thought:
1. Subject verb pairs : Birds of prey...have, some... have, some others... have
2. Pronoun: some refers to birds of prey correctly
3. Tenses: Everything is simple present so it is correct
4. List: Such as is correctly used for example

... what is the issue then? is "at least" and "or more" both required in the answer?

A) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet or more - Redundancy issue

B) the Griffon Vulture, like some others, have a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet- the sentence now talks about Griffon Vulture in particular but the initial sentence used it like an example.

C) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, have wingspans of at least seven and a half feet - Seems to be correct

D) the Griffon Vulture has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet or more, greater than some othersdoesn't solve initial issue. It also changes the meaning of the sentence by not using Griffon vulture as an example

E) some others, such as the Griffon Vulture, has a wingspan of at least seven and a half feet Subject verb agreement error - some others is plural pronoun so it should have a plural verb. 'has' should be replaced with "have"
